as much as you are trying to saint geno you have to believe it took two............even bowles said it was a 6th grade argument now i know IK wasn't the only one talking and i doubt he punched him because he didn't pay that moment.

Now IK should not have punched him that is true but don't make it like geno deserves a shrine.

please explain how Geno is responsible for getting punched in the face. It's not about a shrine...it's about saying Genos actions led to a punch in the face.

Some people said he should have "predicted the future and known to walk away." That statement alone is dumb.

Revis and Bowles said they are both responsible for Geno getting punched in the face. If Revis and Bowles are right, Geno is partially responsible, please paint this picture for me.

What would Geno have to have done/said to be responsible for his punch in the face. Make the defenses argument like Law & Order... :)

Bowles had a excellent and straight the point press conference. Loved what he said that if Fitz is playing well then Geno will not get his job back. Probably doesn't deserve it when your suppose to be the leader of a team and locker room and you can't even work out a money dispute with another team mate. What a fucking dumbass bone head move Geno. I was really looking forward to you proving yourself as being the QB of this team and a developing leader. Damn!

At least "8 different stories" have been circulating among #Jets players. ...One heard Geno may need plastic surgery.

Last straw for me, I was on Gino side up until this (and his last Instagram post.) I realize now that he doesn't get it. It is painfully obvious that he is not mature enough to be an NFL quarterback.

Didn't get a chance to read it yet and thanks for posting it. Guessing your saying Plunkett got his chance because of a injury and the Raiders won a SB because of it? If so I hope the rookie Petty or even Heath steps up. This temporary year thing with Fitz is just to frustrating and disappointing.

Brady has four more rings but Fitz is 6 years younger and less miles...:hand-clapping-smile Try a little optimism, it's lemonade time.

apparently this situation between geno and IK has been brewing for some time. so while i don't hold geno responsible for IK's sucker-punch, geno could have taken prior actions to defuse the situation between he and IK. if reports are true, he could have actually paid IK and not let the situation fester.

again, for the sake of clarity, it is not geno's fault he got punched. but he could have taken action before today to defuse the situation. i do give geno credit for walking away after being punched and not making a bad situation worse. but perhaps letting the situation get to this point is what bowles and revis were referring to in assigning blame to both.

i solely re-posted the words said by revis and bowles. so go on with your need to make it personal and put words in people's mouth. i would expect nothing less from you... :smiley-toilet05:

Same to you. If Geno is responsible for his punch in the face, in any way, explain what he could do to be responsible for his punch in the face. If revis and Bowles are right, paint a scenario, from your wildest dreams, where revis and Bowles are correct, Geno is responsible for his punch in the face.

Unless he pulled a Big Ben on one of his relatives, this is going to be hard to back up, IMO. It's not about him being a saint, but I see zero things over $600 that justifies a punch in the face...I don't care who says it. But you are one of the few that could change my mind on if it was possible to make a worthwhile case. I'd love to read it, because I don't think it's possible.

yeah but we don't know what geno said

he could have said no i am not paying you because i had a death and it wasn't my fault-------------now that would not warrant a punch.

he also could have said no i am not paying you asshole, go fuck off-----------warrants a get in the face and the start of something

could have also said fuck you and your skank girlfriend?--------------now what would that warrant?

obv we don't know i am just saying words can led to being punched.

if you don't agree let someone confront you and your wife or kid and let him call them a whore what would your response be?

That like saying you flick a guy off while driving, he pulls a gun and shoots you, and it's partialky your fault for being shot because you flicked him off.

You can't measure crazy and no argument with a teammate should lead to a punch in the face. It so stupid to blame Geno for iK punching him...
just another example the geno "the village idiot" showing poor judgement.. again..

the starting QB should never put himself in harm's way with crazy linebacker..

he probably said something he had no business saying & thought he could get away with it because he's th QB..

well he guessed wrong..

Agreed. If Geno let a dispute over 600 turn into a heated argument that led to personal attacks, as other said, his issues are worse than a broken jaw, but he never had the mental makeup to be a franchise QB.

Stop laughing: The Jets will be better with Ryan Fitzpatrick | Politi

Steve Politi

FLORHAM PARK — So now the Jets pin their hopes on a 32-year-old Harvard graduate on his sixth team with a wet noodle for an arm — at least, that is, until there is some tragic training-camp accident and his shaggy beard gets sucked into a JUGS machine.

We're joking, but if you're reading this, Ryan Fitzpatrick, please be careful. The latest story from Jets camp is the clearest evidence yet that they've built their headquarters here on some ancient Indian circus grounds. No one is safe from the black hole of nonsense.

Still: Assuming Fitzpatrick doesn't step off a curb and vanish into the world's largest pothole, the news that Geno Smith suffered a broken jaw in a locker room fight might actually be ... good?

Not good for Smith. It's an awful, terrible thing, and no matter what Cris Carter and others were saying on TV, it had nothing to do with his leadership. I don't believe that Smith would ever become a reliable NFL quarterback, but he has mostly said and done the right things under difficult circumstances since arriving from West Virginia.

Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick comfortable in Chan Gailey's offense

Let's not lose sight of this: Smith was the one who got punched in the face, not the other way around. He did not deserve this career detour, even if the dispute was over money.

But it's entirely possible that the Jets are a better offense today than they were yesterday. Yes, Fitzpatrick is a limited player, but he was better than Smith in virtually every measurable way last season, and significantly better at protecting the football that the turnover machine than Smith has been over the past two seasons.

From 2014:

Fitzpatrick: 12 games, 63.1 completion percentage, 2,483 yards, 17 touchdowns, eight interceptions and three fumbles.

Smith: 14 games, 59.7 completion percentage, 2,525, yards, 13 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and three fumbles.

RELATED: Are the Jets going to call former backup Michael Vick?

Maybe Smith would have taken another step forward in his third season — he was, by all accounts, having a good training camp. But in Fitzpatrick, the Jets have a competent veteran replacement who, at the very least, is significantly better than Jets backups from recent years.

"For me, I feel like I've gotten better every year," Fitzpatrick said. "If I didn't have confidence in myself, I wouldn't be standing in front of you. I'd be sailing off into the sunset with a career nobody thought I'd have."

Fitzpatrick knows the offense, having played under offensive coordinator Chan Gailey in Buffalo. He will have, in Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker, two quality targets.

The Jets offense should have improved no matter who was starting at quarterback, and Fitzpatrick might not be a significant step up from Smith. But he certainly isn't a step down, and the fact that he's faced some unique situations in his vagabond career can't hurt, either.

"I've seen some things," is how Fitzpatrick put it, but it's hard to imagine that a starting quarterback getting slugged in the face in the locker room doesn't top that list. It's tempting to put this one in the "Same Old Jets" file, that tattered manila folder that is so chock full of garbage that it barely closes anymore, but this is another level entirely.

This is worse than Rex Ryan facing the media glare over a foot-fetish video, worse than the Butt Fumble, worse than Brett Favre's private parts ending up on the internet, worse than any of the many first-round draft picks that were booed out of Radio City Music Hall.

RELATED: Here are the top 10 worst moments in Jets history

Head coach Todd Bowles was the stand-up guy who was going to bring discipline and accountability to this team, but that's the thing, isn't it? It doesn't matter who's running the team. The Jets are always going to be the Jets, a blighted franchise far better at creating punchlines than championships.

Bowles handled this as best as he could, immediately cutting IK Enemkpali for throwing the punch and addressing the team in a speech he said contained "too many expletives to come out here and say in public." Maybe he'll get the message across.

His mood seemed to alternate between angry and exasperated. "I knew what I was getting into," Bowles said, and he was referring to the crises that all NFL head coaches face during the course of the season.

Still, the Elizabeth native hasn't even coached a preseason game, and already he's faced Sheldon Richardson's high-speed arrest and now a Jet-on-Jet assault on his starting quarterback.

The only saving grace is that his backup might actually be an upgrade. Just keep his beard away from the JUGS machine. Please?

I think you and renegade made the same/similar points and I don't disagree, especially if something this small led to personal insults being made. I used Rodgers as an example earlier, and I don't think Rodgers would insult a teammate, seriously anyway, over a debate over 600. He would see himself as a franchise QB and understand once in awhile these misunderstandings happen and here 600 and would t take cracks at him...but from the reports Geno just said not here or now. But if said scenario happened, I could agree he didn't help, but it wasn't somethjg bad enough to potentially end two careers.

I guess this is what his coach and teammates at West Virginia were alluding to... Lack of leadership

A leader of a team takes control of this situation, a pro diffuses it before it gets out of hand. You have a hothead in IK and you decide to push the boundaries with him. Not very smart.

Does it justify the response? Of course not. But it's hard to imagine any successful QB getting into this situation. Could you imagine someone knocking out Brady or Manning or Rodgers?

Sadly I think it speaks to the lack of gravitas Geno has in that locker room

A SOJs article...even going as far as implying the job is weighing heavy on Biwles already. Wow, before his first preseason game?

He'll be alright, but this definitely looks like SOJ.

Well, at least the defense will be entertaining...hopefully...

Let's be optimistic and hope that Fitz plays like he did last year. If he limits the turnovers and moves the ball just a bit, I think this is a playoff team.

If not, oh well. Draft a QB in '16
