Fundamental issue is you have no idea what type of leader Geno is. You are purely projecting your own dislike of him. You can say he is not the most mature, and the slightly lukewarm reaction to his getting decked is just as likely frustration at the situation as the players not liking him as a leader. He doesn't always come across well in his interviews, but you are just plainly making shit up and acting like it is the truth.

The only way to tell if someone is a "leader" is by observing the decisions he makes and how he responds to adversity (prosperity too).

Geno had NOTHING on his record to indicate he's a good leader. Doesn't mean he can't become one, but implying he already is one is a MUCH bigger reach than stating he isn't . . .

Like I have told everyone since he was drafted I live close to west Virginia and believe me talk around here was he was not ready for the nfl too immature. I always said he had physical tools and that works in colleges but you need to have somewhat of a brain in the nfl for on the field but more so of the field.

He may very well be but does a QB really have to be a leader? Odds are high that he's not a leader of this team. (Sending dick pics, getting thrown off plane, not paying his debt, missing a meeting) But in my opinion, we don't need him to be a leader, we just need him to play well.

The other guys on this offense are all professionals as well, they have a job to do. Whether or not Geno is a leader, the WRs and the rest of the offense needs to go out there and execute their job to their fullest. If they don't come to play bc Geno acts immature in the locker room then they are just as much at fault as they are.

Leading an offense on the field and being a leader of an entire team are two different things. Let David Harris or whoever be the leader of this team, we just need Geno to lead the offense. Make sure people are lined up correctly and run the plays as designed.

Another significant incident you left off the list was Smith's assault on 71 YO Wally Burnham. Who is the Iowa State DC. At half time as the teams were leaving the field, Smith came up , and shoved him from behind trying to knock him to the ground, then cursed him out. When confronted by Burnham's 47 YO son, who is ISU's Defensive line coach, Smith ran away.

IMO the Geno Smith, who taunted IK, and dared him to do something about it, is the same guy who shoved the 71 YO man from behind. Nothing has changed in Geno's world.

smith has a documented track record since his college days of poor decision making at best, to being idiotic at worse..

shoving an elderly college coach.. missing a meeting as a starting QB in the pros because he was at the movies.. taking selfies of his junk & getting busted doing so.. endorsing ryan getting fired.. begging for trouble from a teammate in front of their teammates over 600 bucks..

that ain't me making spit up friend but please feel free to defend the indefensible as much as you like..

I agree with what Bart Scott said; The locker room has a ATM in it Geno should have paid IK plus a 1,000 for his charity.. He said as young as Sanchez was something like that never would have happened with him..
Hate to say it but I'll say it again, if Geno owed me this money and walked by a ATM machine for two straight weeks and didnt pay up, then had the nerve to talk shit to me when I asked for my money. I would of felt a certain type of way about it also and would have two pieced his ass aswell. So I'm not saying Geno deserved it but I understand 1000% where IK is coming from. It doesn't matter how much IK or Geno are making. Now it isnt even about the money, it's the principle behind the whole issue now.

Let the Geno character debate continue, lol. Listen Jets faithful, I've been one of Geno's biggest supporters from day one and throughout all his ups and downs until this situation here. He has gots to go! This just truly shows his lack of maturity, non leadership abilities and character
character flaws. You walk by a ATM machine for two weeks knowing you owe this man his money and knowing he's not going to let it go and you don't pay him. Then talk shit to him too, WOW! Geno has officially wore his welcome out as a Jet IMO and they should move on from him next year, if not sooner. His talent and potential is one thing and that is seriously up for debate but now he really shines a light on his character, maturity and leadership issues.

You do not know any of that is true. The only facts we know are Geno missed the camp, told IK he would pay him back and didn't. We do not know what happened in between. Amazing that the guy who gets his jaw broken by a guy with a history of violence is the culprit in so many eyes. Geno should have paid on the face of it but no one knows what truly happened.

I agree, I grew up in a bad neighborhood and I get it, there's a code a lot of these guys grow up with and there's no getting around it, if you beat someone for money its bad enough, that alone demands an ass kicking, but if you beat him for money and flaunt it, ATM in the locker-room where you can easily withdraw the cash and pay the man, and you don't even bother with it, where I come from that is daring the other guy to do something about it or be a punk, it literally puts him on that kind of spot, so you better know you can kick his ass or he's a punk, and you better not be wrong.

We do know this, Geno owed him the 600. Geno didn't pay him for two weeks after camp started and there is a ATM machine in the locker room. That right there adds up to Geno should have paid him his money and seems he had no excuse not to.

Geno should have paid him , but damn, I made less than both these guys last year, and no way in hell would I be in a physical confrontation over $600. I don't get it

Yes sir, lol! It's not just about where you come and whether or not you grow up in the hood. It's the principle of it all and the mentality of the person your dealing with. I too grow up in the hood and I would of definitely stepped to Geno but not everyone that grow up in the hood would have. Now I will admit that growing in the hood there is a code and more then likely anyone from the hood would have stepped to Geno but not all. People from all walks of life might have took that situation as a big time DIS and did the same thing IK did.

Agreed that not everyone would step to him, but you and I both know that in the hood if someone beats you for money and flaunts it, and you don't do anything about it, you are essentially a "marked man", everyone will view you as a punk. As Al Pacino said in Carlito's Way (underrated great movie); "The street is watching, she is watching all the time."

Smith also has a history of violence. Difference is his violence is with 70+ YO men. When his 47 YO son wanted to fight him, Smith headed for the high ground.

The $600 was really a side issue. IK was upset Smith didn't show, and didn't tell him till the last moment after IK laid the money out.

Then Smith went all bad ass in front of the team to humiliate him. Didn't turn out very well for either of them
