He is a smart veteran and has never had a cast around him like he does now. There is a reason he has been on 6 teams, but there is also a reason he has been the starter too. He is a great stop gap for Petty or whoever we draft in the next two years.

Its true, I believe that now, I'm convinced. I wasn't a believer, but he made me a believer tonight. That drive to answer the Colts drive really impressed the heck out of me. IMO that game was slipping away and we were going to lose if not for that drive, and I said as much in the game thread. Right after the Colts scored, I said; "Now we find out if we have a Quarterback", and Fitzpatrick answered that question in the affirmative. That was BIG TIME Quarterbacking.

The drive after the Indy TD was great, but I was not impressed at all with Fitz' play tonight. He really needs to play much better for us to continue winning. He is so limited that I think defenses might adjust and he will really struggle. He was terrible outside of 20 yards and made a few really bad decisions that he got away with. I think we are seeing scheme and talent more than ability from Fitz. He sort of is what I thought he was, which seems enough for some people but I do not think he is really playing well, and is so limited at being able to make plays.

I used to share this sentiment, Johnny, but not anymore. I've seen enough good things from Fitzpatrick through two games that I have to agree with Tebow, he's not the longterm answer, but he's a quality veteran to hold the fort and keep us competitive while we groom Petty, and I'm happy with that.

I said in a thread earlier before the season that we might have out next Vinny. He doesn't have his arm strength but he does have smarts and great WR's. Fitz brought a calm to this team once Geno got punched. I don't know how long it will last but I had a good feeling and attitude about this team from day one of the Bowles era. Even after Sheldon suspension and Geno's jaw.

I think you're right, I think the fact that Fitz had his most success with Chan is something a lot of people were too dismissive of, including me. I absolutely see Fitz running this offense like he's been in it years, smooth and efficient.

I thought at the very least he would accelerate Geno's learning curve.

I definitely hope so but I am not seeing it. He definitely does have a good feel for the offense but we have a long way to go. We need to run from 4 WR more and pass more from our 11 looks.

Nice win on the road vs a quality led QB team that was desperate for a win. Some concerns going forward: Decker and Enunwa dropped catchable balls (2 each) that stalled drives. Cromartie's play has slipped. Not sure why he was in the lineup with his banged up knee. Marcus Williams is more than adequate. Maybe Bowles likes Cromatie's length against taller receivers? The interior of the offensive line could not get seams opened for the run game. Maybe Mangold is still hurt? Devin Smith should add a speed to an offense that needs it. Can he catch up after missing so much time? He may be a huge addition for this offense.
Areas of strengths: obviously it starts with the defense. Bowles has them playing much faster and more aggressive. Revis is a joy to watch. While he is not the same player as he was several years ago, he's still plenty good. Mo Wilkerson is not going anywhere. He's a beast and one of the best players at his position in the league. The young guys are coming on: Reilly, Skrine, Williams are all flashing. Hopefully Mauldin can return at a high level. On offense Fitzpatrick is the better option at QB. He's smart, even keeled and can make the requisite throws. Say goodbye to Geno Smith as a starter unless there is an injury. Brandon Marshall is a beast and single handedly changes the dynamic of the game. The offensive line has been great in pass protection. It was obviously stressed in camp by Gailey and company.

A very good performance. Fitz was steady, we need to do a little more on the offensive side of the ball, we got away a little bit last night due to a great performance by the D.

Fitz is steady and offers us more than Geno at this time. Fitz steadying the ship until Petty is ready sounds like a good plan!

That defense last nite had Luck, Pagano, and their entire team in " awe "
They looked in complete disbelief when they showed them on the sideline.
