bench Fitz, bench Devin Smith, retool the game plan more under center snaps in the singleback or i-formation to allow Chris Ivory to get going, even Ridley and Powell can take advantage...

we need to get back to basics and try not to Hail fucking Mary every other down

Too early.

And I don't mean in this season. I mean in his development. Rushing QBs gave us Sanchez, gave us Geno. Let's actually allow him to develop and get the system, so when he does go out there, he is 100% ready.
Too early for him to peak, perhaps even too early for him to win, but not too early for us to get an idea of what he is. If he has a future, the trained eye will see flashes of it, and thats all I need to know. I need to know how we need to approach the draft where it pertains to the most important position on the field.

Get what system?? This team has no system!!

And what? Put him in a little glass trophy case and look at him and then draft a high pick on a QB???

Petty hasn't had enough time to study defenses. A half season isn't enough time.

No point in putting Petty in. With the way this team is playing it will stunt his growth.
I disagree, let the kid learn on the job. Only weak minded people like Smith and Sanchez fall behind mentally from losing and learning from his and the team mistakes. Petty doesn't seem like kind of a kid.

What an awful awful game. It's probably the worst one this season and that's saying much.

We've only gotten downhill after Bill Belicheck showed the world how to defend us.

What a huge letdown. Reality is here. We know who the 2015 Jets are. A brief glimpse of something special, followed by another inexcusable performance. This team has too much talent to play so poorly over the last 5 weeks. It is unimaginable to me that Yates just outplayed Fitzpatrick, and our secondary got lit up the way they did.

Talk about crashing back down to Earth. Bowles has got a lot of soul searching to do this week. Whatever he's trying, it ain't working.

What does that tell you: Yates outplayed Fitz.

Because you know?

because I watched Petty for two years at Baylor and know he isn't ready.

from experience I know what it takes to play the position and right now he is far from ready to be thrown into the fire.

Mangold could be out for a minute maybe be shelved for the rest of the season as he has not really recovered from that injury.

why put the kid in when this offensive line is playing this poorly?

YOU'RE RIGHT

I usually respect other peoples opinions, I don't have all the answers, my opinion is just my opinion and I could be wrong, but if you are reluctant to find out what we have in Petty now, I don't want to hear you telling me that we need to spend a first round pick on a QB in the draft, or more than a first round pick to trade up for a QB. If you say you don't want to see Petty now, fine, but then don't turn around and say we have to sell the farm for a QB in the draft.

With all due respect Elias: What makes you an expert on Petty; the press?

I'm not an expert by all means. The reason he fell in the draft to the fourth round was because he came from a quick read system. The calls came from the coach before the snap. There were no pre snaps read by the qb in Baylors offense. If that one read wasn't there he would toss it or run.

For that reason alone, I am not to confident that he can step up and face complex NFL defenses. Hell, Qbs, who play in more traditional offenses struggle.

By the way, did you enter the running for free pats-jets tix. Not sure if you would want to stay in the cold.

You may want to know. But you don't need to know, and neither do I. We don't have a voice in the room. We have no say in that decision. The people who do see Petty every day in practice and in team meetings.

I agree completely Brick.

By the way, are you in the running for the jets-pats ?

Bowels is now two for two in blowing late game decisions. IMHO the bills game was inexcusable esp. and today rather then pinning them back to goal line he pass on 4th down to Mr. stone-hands smith.

We need to know because it directly effects the most valuable commodity in the draft, our first round pick.

If you don't have a franchise QB to build around in this league, you'll be changing coaches and GM's every few years until you find one, its that simple, thats why we've had a gazillion coaches and GM's since Namath, because of our inability to find another franchise QB to replace him, which is pathetic considering its been over forty years, but I digress.

Point being, if we don't have a QB we have to move heaven and earth to get one, with our first round pick if we have a crack at one or we might even have to sell the farm to move up. But if Petty gives us a reason to believe the future might be secure at the most important position in football, we won't have to sell the farm and that commodity (1st RD Pick) can be used elsewhere.

Like I said above, I don't mind if you say NO to playing Petty, if you say its too soon, thats your opinion and I respect it, but please don't turn around in the off season and say we need to draft a QB in the first round or trade up for one, without even knowing what we have in Petty.
