We need to know because it directly effects the most valuable commodity in the draft, our first round pick.
If you don't have a franchise QB to build around in this league, you'll be changing coaches and GM's every few years until you find one, its that simple, thats why we've had a gazillion coaches and GM's since Namath, because our inability to find another franchise QB to replace him, which is pathetic considering its been over forty years, but I digress.
Point being, if we don't have a QB we have to move heaven and earth to get one, with our first round pick if we have a crack at one or we might even have to sell the farm to move up. But if Petty gives us a reason to believe the future might be secure at the most important position in football, we won't have to sell the farm and that commodity (1st RD Pick) can be used elsewhere.
Like I said above, I don't mind if you say NO to playing Petty, if you say its too soon, thats your opinion and I respect it, but please don't turn around in the off season and say we need to draft a QB in the first round or trade up for one, without even knowing what we have in Petty.
