Attention, Dee Milliner: Jets' former No. 1 picks aren't safe

Let's remember the Jets did not have to activate Milliner this season. They chose to activate him and use what is a valuable roster spot. Just sayin

They pretty much had to activate him with the injuries we had, or IR him and sign someone off the street - so I guess he's got that going for him, he's better than a guy that's bagging groceries or a young PS guy. Or at least he knows the scheme better.

There could've went a few different ways at different positions. Revis and Williams were both healthy at that time, and CB is arguably the deepest position on the roster

not exactly a ringing endorsement of a former 9th pick in the draft..

IMO, he gets cut as soon as as it makes sense salary cap wise..

I think it likely played into the decision. Otherwise, carrying an extra PK and at the time thinking they might possibly need another short term QB, you'd think they would have IRd Milliner if they felt that strongly that they were safe at corner. Revis and Williams were healthy but Skrine had the broken hand and then shoulder injury, and was all ineffective in the Raiders debacle the week prior to the Milliner decision, and Cro left with the thigh vs. Jacksonville the day before they had to decide. Pair that with the fact that it was a short week (BUF), and I bet they were feeling at least somewhat vulnerable with Cromartie and Skrine completely uncertain on Monday, leaving only Revis, Williams, Walls, and McDougle.
- and coming off the unit's awful Raiders game and less than stellar play vs. the JAGs.

No, it's not. I'd say the only thing that could possibly save him, or at least get them to take anther look, is if the injury situation gets him on the field and he stands out.

Under the circumstances I think he gets on the field this week. He's going to have to impress some body with his play, or I suspect he'll follow Coples. He can't be cut now it would be a $4,000,000 cap hit.

Like Coples he isn't their draft pick, and they are saying the same kind of things.

They were the only ones. For Week 10 when Milliner was activated here are the Jets DB's who were injured. Cal Pryor ankle, Dion Bailey ankle, Cro quad,Buster Skrine shoulder, He was very hurt I remember during the Bills game after every play he was kneeling and hold his shoulder between every play. Probably shouldn't have been out there. McDougle hand. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/buf...-jets-injury-report-a-depleted-jets-secondary

IMO Bowles really didn't want to activate Milliner, and didn't the previous week, might have very well let him go to full season IR to save the roster spot, accept that the Jets secondary was destroyed with injuries.

I think the Coples comp is flawed. I was a big Coples fan, I thought he had great pass-rusher potential and expected a big year from him under Bowles. The dude just consistently failed to produce results on the field. Milliner has failed to be able to stay on the field, healthwise. I remember him being practically Revis-like in coverage the last four games of his rookie season so I have no doubt that he has the talent, but it ain't worth nuthin' if he can't stay healthy. And from what I have seen of the pressers, I don't think Bowles has been nearly as negative regarding Milliner as some here are portraying. Fact: he missed pretty much all of last season, and then the big chunk of this pre-season and early season. That means that he is behind a bunch of guys who have been playing game-speed football for all or part of that time. He may or may not get a chance with the Jets to show what he can do, but I have a gut feeling that his turn will come, and if he can stay healthy - an admittedly giant if - I think he will do well. Time will surely tell.

Who is this Milner guy anyway? Is he the guy who raced Harrison Ford in American Graffiti?

he was the 9th pick in the 2013 NFL draft that can't seem to walk & chew bubblegum without rupturing/breaking something on himself..

he's also someone coach bowles apparently has little to no use for even though he's "healthy," even with our injury situation at CB..

"healthy" at the moment anyway..

there's still time for him to rupture/break something at tomorrow's practice.. stay tuned..

haha cheaterhater knows who he is lmao he is just being silly

as forth why TB hasn't used him is while coming off his injury Milliner is far from game/football shape... in the upcoming weeks expect to see more of him...

Bowles is a genius! He figured out a way to keep Milliner healthy!

One other point that I felt reflected positively on Dee - you'll probably recall that it was posted several times during TC before he got hurt that he was basically at Revis' side every possible moment, observing and talking to him constantly. I thought that was a great reflection on his character; humility in recognizing how much he has to learn and seizing the opportunity to drink up everything he could from one of the greatest to ever play the position. I really hope he is able to finally stay healthy because I believe he can become a really outstanding cover-corner.

I did not see him on the field today...... did anyone have a "Dee sighting" ?

My .00001% guess is that Bowles loved seeing ODB run past our other DB's for 149 yards.

I honestly don't know. Bowles has been coy in is assessment of Milliner. One minute, he's saying "don't worry about our DB injuries, we still have Walls, Milliner, and McDougle". And then we don't see Milliner at all. I find it really hard to believe that Darren Walls and Dex McDougle are going to give us more than Milliner. I like what Milliner brings.

But that's why Bowles/Rodgers get paid to make those decisions and I don't. There's obviously something up here. I just don't know what that is.
