So as I rewatched the giants game I noticed it seemed like wilkerson and williams were on the field together more than sheldon.

If we you had to choose what one do you keep?

It's not even a choice... Sheldon has been good but I think the off-season distractions have cause him to digress this year

Leaving non-football issues to the side, I still feel Sheldon has more natural ability than Mo.

My heart says keep Mo since he's been here longer (and a model citizen), but if the powers that be believe Sheldon is the better long-term option, I wouldn't put up a fight . . .

He is an excellent player, but he is going to be a hard player to give monster money to on a long term contract with season long suspensions hanging over his head.

Pay Mo

This might have been a question before this season and arguably Sheldon might have been the answer but it's not now.

After Sheldon was suspended I felt like Mo was the best one to sign long term and watching this season Mo has proved his worth. Sheldon needs to be traded before another suspension. I feel like Mo is loyal and wants to be here. Not so sure about Sheldon.

Agree

I certainly hate to see a player with Richardson's talent be traded for below what he is worth, but I'm afraid that's what is gong to happen. Seems like the Jets made a mistake not getting Mo signed before the season (Of course I don't know what he is asking for) he's going to be expensive now. More then likely franchised unless somebody offers something BIG.

I don't know how this is going to play out ultimately, but I strongly suspect Richardson won't be signing a long term deal with the Jets in 2 years. Hope Mo is

Ever notice quite a few of Mo's sacks this year he came in unblocked?? How the hell does that happen?? I would like to see Mo retire as a Jet but I don't understand how Mac can do a contract for Revis but has a problem with Mo?? Unless Mo is shooting for a Watt type deal? if that's the case he may price himself off the team..

Yeah, we don't know what Mo is asking for, or what Macc is offering. The popular belief is that the Jets are going to Franchise tag Mo. If that's the case, I can assume he is asking for a monster deal. Think the Franchise tag for a DE is in the area of $15,000,000.

As far as Mo coming in unblocked, one of Richardson's 3.5 sacks have been the same way. Think it has to do with the amount of talent the Jets have on their DL, and the way Bowles moves his guys around, and blitzs. At times when D players are jumping around, showing blitz, OL get confused, and 2 OL attempt to block 1 LB'er, and there's that Oooops moment. Only takes a half second of indecision.

As far as Revis goes, IMO Revis leaving and coming back was a Woody decision. That contract worries me with Revis concussion history. 3 in two years. The last one, by Revis' own admission was a bad one.

Not sure how his contract is structured as far as injury and performance are concerned.

Oh I understand that. I'm wondering what happens to that guaranteed money if he decides that with all that money he doesn't want to have to use GPS to find the toilet, and retires.

Guaranteed money is worded differently in different players contracts.

And knowing Revis how do you think its worded in his contract??

Yeah that was my point. It would bother me to no end, and cripple the team, if that $39,000,000 hit the Jets cap, with Revis sitting home eating popcorn.

I can just see this playing out. Revis just had a very serious concussion . At he end of the season, he's complaining about severe head aches, and has to retire due to injury related concussion.

Revis is a competitor, so I would be surprised if he retired, I think he wants to bring a championship home. Although, we don't really know how bad things are.

I would trade Richardson for multiple picks because of his suspension risks. I would pay mo, leaving Williams as the other interior linemen. He is cheap and under control for several years. Use the Richardson salary to pay mo, and the picks to build depth, and find an actual outside pass rusher. Right now we have a d line of 4 interior linemen.

I actually agree with all your points, and it sounds like a plan.

I'm also going to play devils advocate. :04_g:

"we don't really know how bad things are." True. The only reason I'm bringing this up is I read an article that said Revis has had 3 concussions in 2 years.

This last one was a fairly severe one in that he missed 2 games, and it took 3 weeks to clear the protocol. Revis himself said it was a bit scary. And then was evasive on the details.

Revis is a very smart business man. His uncle is his manager. I know if he was my kid, at his age, with the pocket of gold he's got, I'd be advising him to maybe think about "taking the money and run." Did I mention his uncle is his manager? Think that needs watching.

Jets have Richardson's rights for the next couple of years so it's not an issue yet, Right now his value is WAY down. Right now his production is also down. Jets aren't going to get multiple picks for him. He better do the Ray Lewis thing very soon.

I'd franchise Mo this year. Don't feel bad for the kid that's $15,000,000. I like Williams A LOT.

I mean in general, we as fans know next to nothing. Revis might have the personality that there's no way in hell you're keeping him off the field, or he could be calculating how long he can play to maximize his wealth and health.

I disagree on the market for Richardson. Teams know he's a stud, and having a couple controllable years adds to his appeal. For us, we have depth at the position, and they haven't formed the super unit we were helping for. So trade the knuckle head and get an edge rusher in here for this 2 year championship window.

This is a no-brainer.
The Jets WILL trade Richardson as part of a package to move up in the 2016 draft to acquire Connor Cook, if the opportunity presents itself by Cook falling significantly in Rd 1 to where the Jets actually have a prayer of moving up and grabbing him.
As it stands now, CLE, DAL, & maybe CHI, will all be looking to draft Cook in the Top-10.
Make no mistake, Cook IS 2016's Derek Carr.
He may not go first, but he'll be the best.
