Why? I thought he was good in being consistent in his message and had a plan. He brought in good players that were great leadership guys. But his read and react defense was beyond awful.
Rex took his guys and propelled them to two AFC championships.
Not sure what happened in Cleveland but I don't think his reign was great. Didn't he alienate people by removing banners that showed Browns' greats?

Mostly agree. IMO Mangini was a good HC. He tried to emulate Bellichick to much and play the tough guy.
his ultimate downfall was his love for Favre. Thought it was a mistake at the time and still do. The situation in Cleveland couldn't be worst. We would have had the same thing here if Woody didn't fire Idzik
As long as winning a playoff game isn't important I agree.. He dumps Chad who wins the East with the Fins the same season..

everyone knew chad was done as a jet he had to give him a try plus it was during the season not alot of options he could go to.
I'm not sure what team you were following back then, but Mangini wanted absolutely nothing to do with Favre. Mangini was ready to go with Pennington. Woody Johnson forced Favre on Mangini. Woody wanted Favre, felt like he needed a big name to sell tickets, and ultimately PSLs.

and if Favre didn't get hurt no telling how far we could of want............figures jets luck guy is a iron man in GB then comes to the Jets and 11 games in he gets hurt.
And if Tanny didn't give Favre his release and he has his 33 td 7 pick season for the Jets we might have won a bowl..

That was a great season but to be fair half his games were in a dome.
Favre Had 30+ td seasons playing in Green Bay..

oh i know he could it's just i think some of the announcers said during the dolphins game the jets have never had a QB throw over 25 td's in a season.
Dude Vinny had 29 in 1998 and Sanchez had 26 in 2011..:wtf:
