Everything I've heard is that he isn't ready to start. He's at least 1 year away. Our qb bench would be a cluster fuck.I'm anticipating that we will see a considerable uptick in interest by many fans as well as media types in mocking Mitchell Trubisky to the Jets. As you all know, Trubisky's pro day was yesterday and from all accounts he only improved his stock from the combine. He exhibited a very accurate arm, great mobility both right and left, and acceptable arm strength. We also see that Jets have arranged for a private visit, so the mock drafts may tilt Trubisky towards the top 10 if he wasn't there already and possibly to the QB needy NYJs. Curious what everyone's thoughts are.

I think you're right about Trubisky moving up the boards. If he's there at #6 and Mac feels he's the real deal, then I'm happy for him to select him. Given the QB needy Browns and Niners are up before us, there's also a good chance one of them take him. OR, if he's there at #6 and the Browns are in love with him, Mac could get a nice haul from them given all of their picks (2 #1's, 2 2's and 2 4's this year). I would take their 1, 2 and 4th round picks and give them Trubisky.

so, what do you think GMF?
Trubisky didn't WOW he had a solid outing... Put it this way the wind gust at the pro day didn't do him any favors...
Two players that boosted their stock are Naz Jones and Ryan Switzer... Even Jonathan Howard aka Bug boosted his stock, could now even be a draftee was projected draft free agent...
Living in Raleigh I've gotten to see some of Mitch this year. My interest was I have a friend who's briefly played in the NFL and has a son who currently plays on the team. He was at the pro-day yesterday and thought Mitch performed as expected - very accurate, good arm, throws a good deep ball and good wheels. One of the interesting comments he said he got from talking to some of the team scouts was that Mitch reminds them of Andrew Luck. That's pretty high praise. They also said he definitely needs time to mature but has all the tools.
My one burr under the saddle is I have no idea why Hackenberg did not see the field last year. Was it because they just wanted to slowly groom him and think highly of him or he just was terrible in practice. If it's the former than we should trade down the pick and see what Hack's got this year. If it's the later I would have no problem taking Trubisky at 6.
The thing that's scary is that I don't think the team worked on Hack's mechanics last year. They were waiting for the offseason to come. Not sure if that was a good idea. If i was them, i would have had a coach just for Hack training him on his own each and every day.

#Jets likely to draft a first round QB for the first time since Mark Sanchez? Word is they're very high on Trubisky and Watson.
They said they didn't physically work with him doesn't mean he didn't progress in the class room... Breaking down film learning defenses and understanding assignments all gives any young quarterback a foundation to work with... He has the footwork or at least it is good enough where they can focus on other things... His throwing mechanics was always on the better half of the scale... He is capable of throwing the entire route tree with touch and/or zip... He has the mobility to move the pocket while buying time for his receivers to get open... Give him all the support he could take the job this off season...
