A former colleague of Todd Bowles could be angling for a reunion in New York.

Free agent linebacker Kevin Minter played his first two NFL seasons under defensive coordinator Bowles in Arizona but says he wouldn’t now mind playing under head coach Bowles in the big town.

“I definitely wouldn’t mind playing in New York,” Minter told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Wednesday. “Coach Bowles was essentially the one who drafted me.”

The 26 year old has started every game for the Cardinals, who drafted him in the second round of the draft four years ago, and over the last two years has been the team’s play caller from the inside linebacker slot.

Minter is coming off his best year as a pro, recording 81 tackles and 3.5 sacks.

He is good in fact over many AZ fans I like Minter AZ wants more speed there but he would be a good fit for the Jets

I realize that he may be faster than D Harris, but aren't we trying to get much faster?

“Perhaps the most important trait of any MLB, Minter is a sudden tackler. That is to say, he uses textbook technique and good power to make the stop…Minter attacks the runner and drives him to the ground with force…Although rush the passer is not high on the list of crucial ILB traits, those who can grab attention. In [this] case, Minter displays an above-average knack [for] getting to the quarterback. This skill is helpful to edge rushers because pressure up the middle forces the passer to the outside

He is not slow but he tackles

Unless he's expecting a payday, he's worth a look. I wouldn't open the purse for him considering our young lb core.

Can't wait to see him bashed if he becomes a Jet, or lauded as a great player if he signs elsewhere.

Mac has got to sign this guy. He could be Bowles version of what Bart Scott Meant to Rex:

not sure how much of a selling point that is.....

What i noticed with Rex when he first got here was place leaders in each tier of the defense so that those specific units would understand Ryan's concepts of his defense.:

Jim Leonard-Safties

Bart Scott - Linebackers

Maques Douglas- DLine.

These werent glamous players but when ever the players around them within their respective position had a question, they knew who to aks because these players were veterans under that system.

i do get your point with leonard & douglas but not scott..

ryan was literally in front of scott's home as the FA period began in an attempt to sign him & it worked.. think back in your minds eye, were you pumped when we got him?? i was.. big time!! because he was supposed to be "special" in ryan's defense with us.. he wasn't..
