They were 10-6 in 2015. It has not been going on for many many years.
And if you do not believe Leonard Williams and Mo Wilkerson are impact players, then I doubt you will ever think of any Jet as being an impact player.
I agree with both of you in a way. I am really liking Williams...looks like a winner. Mo I got to see this year but I think he still needs to prove he is a great player. He is a bull.
Wilkerson had a well documented foot/lower leg injury which occurred early in the season, and lingered throughout the year. Talk of him "mailing it in" after the big contract is BS. Wilkerson should be healthy in 2017, and back to being an impact player.
Richardson is the odd man out. You cannot commit that much of your salary cap to one unit. He's also redundant and a potential suspension just waiting to happen based on off the field issues. Fans talk about Geno Smith being a pariah in the locker room. Well, Sheldon reportedly rubbed a lot of people wrong, too. #Godforshort.
Add it all up, and the Jets should take a 2017 3rd rounder and settle for at least something decent in return.

I think it would be different if those players released just had a bad year and could rebound. Mangold is basically done. Revis IS done. Clady won't ever be the same. Marshall has a big mouth. The problem with 2015 is it was smoke and mirrors. Easiest schedule in years. Fitz was lucky he had WR's that could catch his shitty passes. Best weather in the NE in 100 years. The one thing the front office has done right in many years is to blow this up. The Jets need youth and hunger. Watching a 5-11 team of overpaid senior citizens is hopeless. Rather watch a one win team of young players with a future and talent. I watched the Cowboys in early 90's.flip their whole team around with multiple picks. I hope somebody really wants the Jets #6 pick and they can get an extra 3 picks. If they can't rebuild because of crappy drafting then they need to be fired. The face of the franchise shouldn't be a defensive lineman. The Jets have to get a QB and thats either draft one, Petty/Hack or Glennon.

My point was this - whether 10-6 was evidence of a good team, a weak schedule, or both, a lot of Jets fans would be in open revolt if the team tore it down after a season like that.

I dont like trading back & giving someone else our suffering top pick we earned. Keep the 6th & get the best player on the board. Jets can Draft any Position & there are some game changers. Only Position not worthy of a top 6th pick are QB & CB. Both those Positions are not ranked high & more a late desperation 1st or 2nd round pick. CB imo is a 2nd round at best because of that position only facing a top WR 2-3 times a season where NFL they would be facing the best college WR over the last 10 years every week. I like getting proven Vet CB's 3-6 years in League instead of a crap shoot top 10 draft pick that doesnt turn out good & happens rarely.
