Most (or at least many) pundits on this site, feel there is no reason for Mac to bring in a seasoned QB for 2017. Give the kids a chance and let's suck in 2017 to build for the future, is the logic. Here's the reality; it won't work. Let's say they throw Petty in there and he does only slightly better than he did last year. The record will be 3-13 and despite fans saying they are willing to endure a terrible season, everyone will go crazy and will be calling for heads to roll. AGAIN. Including Woody. Then we hit the reset button AGAIN and the new regime will be starting from scratch including getting rid of the decent players from the 'old regime'.
Scenario 2; they hand the ball to Hackenberg and they don't win their first game until week 15. Bowles is fired during the bye week. The debate begins about whether Mac should stay and be able to hire his own coach. He doesn't as Woody cleans house AGAIN. The #1 pick in the draft will not suffice as a consolation prize. It just won't.
If anyone here, or anywhere, thinks Jets fans can endure a season of last year's Rams game again, they're smoking crack. Mac knows this and Bowles knows this. Expect a seasoned pro to start the season and expect 3-6 wins.
