Skrine on Jets' offseason: 'Ain't no rebuilding' in New York

His very dumb comments aside, I always thought Skrine was a very good player, so long as the CS actually uses him correctly? He's not cut out to play. CB outside the slot. So the CS should just keep him in the slot. He also gets paid way too much. If he could take a pay cut it would be great.

Yea he's wrong but I can't fault him for his comments. He's a veteran. No one wants to go into a season knowing they are playing for nothing. If these thoughts will motivate him then by all means he should keep thinking them.

As for Skrine, I thought he was a good nickel back but a failed experiment as the team's second cb. With Burris making somewhat of an impact late last year, I thought he was becoming the nickel and Skrine being cut. Weird that hasn't happened yet but maybe the team is more confident in Skrine than we are. That's not saying much though. This is the lowest I've seen our fan bases' morale in a real long time.

how about to "my point??" "moe's point??" "soj's point??" "maine's point??"

I was agreeing with Sackexchange, hence the reference to his point. It seems to really bother some fans when people disagree with them. I'm not sure why. I don't expect everyone to agree with me.

actually, my issue was sack tried to changed the narrative/hijack the thread with his dogmatic view of how jet fans on this board feel about the team.. then you co-signed..

I never tried to hijack the thread. Sorry if you feel that me expressing my opinion is trying to hijack the thread.

I get it now. Thanks.

we were talking about skrine's less than thoughtful take on what the '17 jets will, or will not be this season.. not about how JFU would react to hypothetically having a winning record while missing the playoffs..

in retrospect, i should have chosen my wording more carefully, my intention was not to offend..

i respect you as a member of JFU & enjoy posting with you & what you bring to the board.. hopefully no hard feelings sack.. certainly none on my end..

LOLz we're too small of a board for that kind of thing anyway.. :)

Let's calm down peeps. It's just football.

I know. I'm tired of this constant fighting shit. I think we should force 13 and Sack in a room so they can have that violent make up sex? What do you think?

In looking back, I don't see where at any point, I specified how JFU would react. I think I said "fan base." If you read it as me calling out JFU, then I was not clear enough, and I apologize for that.

I'd much prefer just talking it out.

Now, whatever Maine wants to do with other JFU members is up to him, as long as all involved are consenting adults.

You may think the New York Jets are rebuilding, but cornerback Buster Skrine disagrees.

"You can't rebuild in New York," Skrine told ESPN.

Why not?

"Because y'all will eat us up," he said with a smile, alluding to the media. "Ain't no rebuilding here. It's getting right to the point. This is a competing team. We still have the players to compete."

Skrine became the first holdover to comment publicly on the Jets' dramatic roster shakeup. In case you've been snoozing, they said goodbye to household names such as Darrelle Revis, Nick Mangold and Brandon Marshall, among others, replacing them with younger, cheaper and less established players.

Coach Todd Bowles and general manager Mike Maccagnan have provided their take on the offseason strategy, but those who survived the Great Roster Purge have remained quiet. ESPN caught up with Skrine last weekend at a charity event in Manhattan.

Skrine said he hasn't been surprised by anything.

"I'm going into my seventh year and I played for Cleveland, so I've seen it happen," he said. "Sometimes you have to figure out the right formula for the team, and I trust Coach Bowles. Every morning, he's up at 4:30. I trust Maccagnan. I trust everybody. I know they've got something up their sleeve. They're going to make it work.

"At the end of the year, Bowles said, 'I'm not going to let y'all down this year. We're going to make it work. We're going to come in and I know things are going to change.' I know, going into next season, it's going to be a different atmosphere. I'm looking forward to it."

Skrine didn't want to dwell on last season's 5-11 disaster, except to say, "It didn't click like we wanted it to." There were well-documented chemistry and disciplinary issues, casting the Jets as a dysfunctional team.

Without getting into specifics, Skrine suggested the morale will be better now that the locker room chemistry has been altered. He expects Bowles to set the tone April 17, the start of the offseason program.

"I know Coach Bowles, when he says something, he means it," Skrine said. "We'll probably be one of the most organized teams in the league. We're a young team. When you have a younger team, you can tailor your team exactly how you want it to be. I think that's how they want it to be. I think we're going to have a good year.

"I know, coming into this year, our organization, we're going to come in swinging this year."

This is a joke right??? With this current roster, the Jets can try their hardest and will only win 4-5 max games anyway this year. So if they don't think that they can rebuild, their doing it anyway by default I guess. Besides, the media may kill them but I don't think majority of us fans will. We the fans see how bad this is and want the rebuild. A lot of us have wanted it since the Rex Ryan days. After his first two years of course. So they may think they can't rebuild but their doing it anyway, LOL!!
