Browns Talking To Jets About Trade Up For Mitch Trubisky?

I disagree with your 7 year assessment. The competitive rebuild was good. We watched an exciting team, none off the contracts backfired, it didn't prevent us from drafting.

Three five year rebuild is about drafting future contributors, saving cap room, getting younger.
Being active in free agency when we have zero chance of competing would be counter productive. My opinion is that woody gave Mac the ok to save cap room and let the kids play. Also, who would you have wasted us to sign that we didn't? A player would also want to join a complete rebuild, and most guys we would have signed, wouldn't be here in 3 years anyway.

This is such complete nonsense. You actually think Woody allowed Mac to go 5-11 last season? That's competitive?! Even in 2015 they were never competitive. They beat one team with a winning record in two seasons. You can be as delusional as you'd like and obviously no one is going to stop you. Just know that when you talk that way people will be laughing in your face.

Agree with MYKCUZ above. I would take their first (12th), a 3rd Rounder and a first next year. If we don't draft a QB this year we will need lots of high draft picks to trade up. Our plan should 100% be to how to get a franchise QB either this year or next..

This is a5 year rebuild, as I have said constantly after idzik was booted.

I said it before and again I hate this term " rebuild " as its a built in excuse for sucking with no guarantee to work out in the end.
But just so I'm clear on this ,
is this year 3 of the rebuild or year 1?

I have a feeling Trubisky is going to the 49ers at #2, but that doesn't kill this deal, I also have a feeling Cleveland wants to leap Buffalo for Mahomes.

If this trade goes down, I think we send Sheldon to Cleveland in the deal too and get back #12, #33 and their 4th RD Pick at the top of RD 4, a round where we currently have no picks. So basically we get the #33 and #108 we're asking for, but only if we throw Sheldon in the deal.

My mock if this happens:

01) BROWNS - Myles Garrett, ER, Texas A&M
02) 49ERS - Mitchell Trubisky, QB, North Carolina
03) BEARS - Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford
04) JAGUARS - Jamal Adams, S, LSU
05) PANTHERS (from Titans) - Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU
06) BROWNS (from Jets) - Pat Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech
07) CHARGERS - Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State
08) TITANS (from Panthers) - Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State
09) BENGALS - Jonathan Allen, DL, Alabama
10) BILLS - Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson
11) SAINTS - Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama
12) JETS (from Browns) - OJ Howard, TE, Alabama
13) CARDINALS - Mike Williams, WR, Clemson
14) EAGLES - Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State
15) COLTS - Christian McCaffery, RB, Stanford
16) RAVENS - Derek Barnett, ER, Tennessee
17) REDSKINS - Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan
18) TITANS - Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan
19) BUCS - Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama
20) BRONCOS - Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin
21) LIONS - TJ Watt, ER, Wisconsin
22) DOLPHINS - Haason Reddick, OLB, Temple
23) GIANTS - Garrett Bolles, OT, Utah
24) RAIDERS - Jarred Davis, LB, Florida
25) TEXANS - DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame
26) SEAHAWKS - Tre'Davious White, CB, LSU
27) CHIEFS - Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State
28) COWBOYS - John Ross, WR, Washington
29) PACKERS - Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama
30) STEELERS - David Njoku, TE, Miami
31) FALCONS - Forrest Lamp, OG, Western Kentucky
32) SAINTS - Evan Engram, TE, Ole Miss
33) JETS (from Browns) - Adoree Jackson, CB, USC
34) 49ERS - Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan
35) JAGUARS - Chidobe Awuzie, CB, Colorado
36) BEARS - Charles Harris, ER, Missouri
37) RAMS - Kevin King, CB, Washington
38) CHARGERS - Takkarist McKinley, OLB, UCLA
39) JETS - Obi Melifonwu, FS, UConn

I was tempted to take ER Tim Williams at 39, but after the Sheldon experience I doubt we take a guy with an arrest and multiple failed drug tests. Dude is a beast of a pass rusher, has the skill to be an elite 3-4 edge rusher, but its Sheldon 2.0

I like this, but no chance the Jets take Pat Elflein at 39?

I actually was at the gym the other day thinking about a scenario that got us OJ and Melifonwu, but instead of Jackson Kevin King. I think if we wind up with those first 2, and one of Jackson/King that would be an absolute hell of a draft for us. Taking it a step further I also imagine Jake Butt may be available in round 3. Not sure if we can pass on him, and adding both Howard and Butt to our passing attack would make life a lot easier for whoever plays qb in 2018
