Good post MJ.
Yep, this is a cross roads draft. As said above should have happened in 14, but...............
Guess who's going hog hunting south of Ocala (spelling?) in October of this year? Crossbow and Bow.....
Good post MJ.

Mac just said yesterday that when you are picking a guy at number 6, you want a guy that can step right on the field.......
Agreed.
We won't be able to judge this draft for a few years. But his first couple drafts should start showing results by now.
I don't necessarily agree with the results for this years draft only being evident in a few years? If Mac drafts good players that are ready to compete, it will be immediately evident. It will be easy to say that Mac hit a home run. And in the reverse, just like in 2014, it was almost immediately evident that John Idzik completely fucked the draft up. That was such an obvious example that fans in general could have made much better selections than Idzik.........

Petty is a career backup, with a little chance to be more, an appropriate 4th round pick. If its a5 year rebuild, why draft win now guys? Now in year 3, win now guys need to take over on Macs priority list, but still mix prospects in.yes, as far as what hackenberg & petty.. '17 will be a full bore re-build.. i've come to terms with that.. i want us to unequivocally have at least an understanding what we have with both kids by seasons end..
but i'm speaking from a standpoint of what maccagnan will in all likelihood do at this point in order to keep his job..
granted, that approach can/will be a bit cloudy, since bowles still does not answer directly to him.. so there is that..
you?? how about the wife's cat??Ah man, I'm jealous Bro haven't been boar hunting in about 15 years. Great fun. Excellent bass fishing in the Ocala area also. You'll have fun for sure. Wild pig is delicious
we definitely disagree on maccagnan's success (post number 3 in this thread) in the rounds one & two so far..Petty is a career backup, with a little chance to be more, an appropriate 4th round pick. Mac clearly had eyes for hack. If he wins the starting job at some point this year, it will be an epic pick. If not, it's a wasted important pick.
I think mac has had some good drafts, not perfect, but solid contributors. Look at our undrafted production....
Leonard Williams is a career nfl player, Lee will be a starter for 10 years, our 3rd rounders will contribute for several years, and maybe one rises higher.
Devin Smith was a miss so far, hack is undecided.
So first round has been successful, 2nd round has been average, but could tip either way soon. 3rd round had been solid. Fourth round is average. Late guys are what they are, shell could be a great late pick. Undrafted guys are well above expectations.
Has it been flashy, no. But its been the opposite of failure. As this team takes shape the next 2 years, almost every drafted player will play an important role.

Actually, I'm not going bass fishing, but I will be going Tilapia hunting? The people I'm going with say that is almost as much fun as hog hunting?

Bow hunting tilapia,, got to say that is hard core. Never done it, but have caught a bunch of them , hook and line, in the lake behind my house. Mostly on Berkeley Gulp maggots. Let me know how that goes.
Don't know if it's as much fun as hog hunting, but it's a heck of a lot less dangerous, and also good eating. Might try it in my lake. They are an invasive species, and the FWC doesn't care how many you kill. see a lot of them while bass fishing in my kayak.
Let me know how it goes. Bow hunting them out of the kayak sounds like fun

Yeah, my buddy was telling me that you have to hunt them? Did Florida fish and game stock them in Florida lakes to combat invasive aquatic plants? Anyway, my buddy tells me you can't catch them on a fishing rod, you have to go out at night and use bow and arrow and a reel. He said that is so much fun. The last time they went they filled up a 50 gallon drum in about 3 or 4 hours. BIG 10 to 25 pounds a whack??? I had no idea those things get so big. The filets I get at the grocery store are tiny.......

I know this is way off-topic for a football board, but I find it interesting none the less.
From what I have read The FWC didn't stock them, they originally escaped from a commercial farm. There is a good and bad news environmental impact. The good news is that as you mentioned they are algae eaters. Central and south Florida has been plagued by fresh water algae blooms the last few years that is impacting the brackish water, and infiltrating the Indian River Lagoon, and killing the grass on the flats. The tilapia are helping keeping it in check. The bad news, from what I have been told is they also eat bass eggs. Because of the positive impact the FWC hasn't been aggressive in controling them like they do with lionfish.
Tell your friend I am catching them hook and line. As I mentioned I use Berkley Gulp maggots. I'm told they don't actually eat the maggots, but they pick them up in their mouths to move them away from their nests. Has the same effect as if they were eating them. when you feel them pick the maggot up, set the hook. Advise using a real light braid line so you can feel the pick up. I also use bread balls, mixed with moss, a touch of olive oil, and freeze them over night. Some of the "good ole boys" mix ant eggs in.
Frequently will catch 10 of them in an hour or two ranging from 5-8 pounds. I have no doubt up in Ocala they might get to well over 10. Great fun to catch on very light tackle, and GREAT EATING.
I'm intrigued with the idea of hunting them with bow and arrow
#1 [h=2]So is this when things finally turn around?[/h] At the safety position ?
So lets hear it Jets fans? What do you think? My own personal belief is that this was a great draft. One in particular that will break the 2nd round jinx. It will not show in the win column, but this draft netted at least 3 day 1 starters. They will contribute right from opening day on. IMO, it will be much easier to very plainly see that is a draft for the ages while everyone will still be very skeptical of the 2016 draft.
