I'm not as down on Bowles as some, but from an organizational standpoint, I definitely agree with this.
Bring in Mac to run the football side, you have to let him choose his HC.

Unfortunately true. I do not like the whole reporting structure.
What is even worse is Christopher Johnson who is supposedly running things probably can't fire either one of them.
I am not a fan of the reporting structure either Sack. I have never understood why Woody wants it this way...GM should pick the coach. Unless the GM is the coach, like Belichick, why would the coach need to report to the owner? It makes very little sense.
I have a question - clearly some folks here want Mac and Bowles gone. My question is, who are you going to get to replace them, particularly with the roster in the shape it is in? I am not down on Mac at all. I understand people might be frustrated by a few of his picks, but overall I don't see why he is so badly regarded here after only a few years, especially given the state of the roster.
Bowles, I can see why people would want him out, but again, I think he is a better coach than people think.
So who would you replace them with, and who would be willing to come to here that would be so much better? If you say Harbaugh, I don't see it.

First of all, I think Toilet is hanging around for another year ONLY because Mac and Woody need a disposable HC? A guy that can coach the team for a season with no expectations and then fire him at the end of the year. 2017 doesn't matter to Mac or Woody as they have no plans for winning. If they really were wanting to win they would not have cut virtually every talented veteran on the team?
I think they're biding their time waiting for a better candidate to come along. When that happens they'll make the change? There's just no way IMO that Woody could just sit back and accept a season like 2016? Toilet made every bad decision he could have made? He lost the team for long periods. The DEFENSE, Toilet's apparent specialty was a huge disappointment? The DL, which even now, everyone still considers to be the strength of this team was hugely disappointing? There's just no excuse for this. Everyone wanted to get rid of Rex, but even Rex always held the defense together. Rex's defenses ALWAYS played better than the Jets defense in 2016. Now, I'm not here to defend Rex. Rex is gone, he's ancient history. But the point is, Woody hired Toilet with the intent of getting BETTER HC. Toilet is not better, he's in fact much worse the way I see it................
So far Rex has had way more bad seasons than Bowles. He definitely had a bad season last year, but Rex had a Revis in his prime and Bowles did not.
I don't.
In general, I think Woody is a good owner, but it baffles me to have the HC and GM as laterals organizationally.

And ultimately I agree with you. I just can't help thinking Woody's heart is in the right place, however misplaced the strategy may be........
I think he has a logical reason for it, stemming back to Rex and Idzik, or even Rex and Tanny.
I just happen to disagree with that logic.

After two seasons, Rex has a superior coaching record of wins/losses and coaching accomplishments to anything Toilet has done. Those are the facts...........
The only media I've heard saying Jets are tanking is Extra Sensitive Pussy Network. espn Breaking news!! Jets didnt sign kaperneck that means jets are tanking season. Funny how Browns & many other teams in past has dumped players and espn calls it rebuilding. But Jets do the same thing & its tanking. Jets are rebuilding as quick as possible. Espn isnt sports any more but agendas filled BS. QB Kaperneck is a daily watch. Whats with all the attention? I dont remember this much attention to other back up QB's.
Yup and he was given a better team. Maybe Bowles can actually be successful after two years of being a HC unlike Rex. For the record I loved Rex.

That's true, but when Bowles had a better record after one season, that was dismissed. You can't have your cake and eat it, too.
Tanking is fine when it's other teams. The Browns did it, the Colts did it. But I guarantee if the Jets get the first overall pick and land Darnaud, there will be outrage. It will likely lead to the creation of a lottery system.
I doubt that, the Jets have been a shit storm and laughing stock for years now. I mean look at our roster this year, everyone should know there is a major rebuild here at the least, if not tanking and it is well overdue. Even when they won ten games the year before, no one really believed they were that good. I mean Fitzgarbage was the QB then, REALLY!!! So if they win 2 games or less and get the #1 pick, I don't think the outrage will be that bad. Now if the Giants tanked with the roster they have this year, then all hell will break loose.
