so I watched several plays of fitzpatrick last night when he was with the bills and the texans and here is my thought.
as a buffalo bill under gailey he had a swiss cheese oline he usually had about as much time or less than geno had last year to get rid of the ball. He does throw INT's because alot of the time fitzpatrick throws to where a wr shoiuld be and isn't. He will throw a lot of balls low so we need wr's with good hands who can scoop the ball. When he does rear back and let it zip the ball will be on target and the wr needs to be ready to catch a manning type pass.
He doesn't have a great arm motion throwing medium routes they come out funky and are not always spirals. He does have a very beautiful and accurate long ball though it won't be a favre long ball but he could easily cover 55-65 yards in the air and very accurate. I see kerley being used alot this year gaileys offense is actually very similar to what the pats run but instead of using the TE's gailey like to use the slot wr and get him into open space.
The other thing I really noticed is because he is smart he is very good at reading the coverage and audibling at the line. He or gailey are not afraid of going for it 2-3 times through the course of the game I saw no hesitation or let up at all with him or gaileys offense flat out 100 percent every snap from start to finish.
Fitzpatrick is most dangerous inside his own 5 yard line very rarely does he make a bad play or put his team in a bad position. The other thing I really like about fitzpatrick is he is one tough SOB.
He knows how to get down when he takes off on a run and doesn't try to force balls to wr's like i said alot of his int's are tipped passes or the ball is their but the wr is not.
Gaileys offense also needs a punishing bruiser rb similar to ivory in order to keep the defense honest, so those that think ivory doesn't fit are sorely mistaken in fact he had marshawn lynch in 2009 as his rb.
but he was most succesful in 2010 when he had a bruising rb paired with a speed back with good hands.
in texas he had a better oline but he still had issues with wr's not always being where the ball is.
so in short the reason i think he has been on many teams is because he is not a franchise QB and in the case of bengals he left because they finally got a franchise qb in dalton the bills were heavily vested in rob johnson and wanted to make him there franchise QB and honestly not sure what the hell the texans are thinking with the signing of hoyer and letting fitzy go.
