Also, for whatever its worth, I think Ohio State is going to repeat as national champs.

I believe Jones will win the starting job and I believe he's for real. Ezekiel Elliott is a monster (my favorite to win the Heisman) and so is Joey Bosa, and they have as good a coach as there is in college football. I think they're gonna be even better this year than they were last year. I think they have a chance to be a really special team, historically special.

Translation: I can see them running the table and kicking much ass! :)

Nice write up from Dane Brugler of CBSSports ona couple of interesting Pitt prospects. Tyler Boyd could be the top WR prospect in the 16 draft.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/nfl-draft-scout/25218426/nfl-draft-pittsburgh-preview

Tyler Boyd, WR, Junior (6-2, 192, 4.47)
The first player in ACC history to record 1,000-yard receiving seasons in both his freshman and sophomore years, Boyd has been spectacular on the field for Pitt, despite opposing defenses knowing he's the Panthers' only true receiving threat. Last season, Boyd finished with 78 catches for 1,261 yards and eight touchdowns, which was 57 catches and 1,060 receiving yards more than Pitt's second-leading receiver. He also shined on special teams as he led the ACC and ranked 10th nationally with a 27.6 yard kickoff return average, also finishing second in the conference in punt return average (10.1). Only one receiver in Pitt history has eclipsed 200+ career receptions (Devin Street), but Boyd should get there sometime in October, entering the 2015 season with 163 catches already on his résumé. He is also only 626 receiving yards shy of Antonio Bryant's school record (3,061 receiving yards).

As a NFL prospect, Boyd will likely be the highest-graded offensive prospect out of Pitt since Larry Fitzgerald in 2004. Although his size/speed profile is average at-best, Boyd is able to stand out because he pays attention to the details and works his tail off to separate before and after the catch. He will have some focus drops at times, but he has usually sure hands with terrific hand/eye coordination, attacking the ball with body control and determination. Despite not being a speedster, Boyd has gliding strides and mixes his gears well, using beautiful body fakes in his routes to emphatically sell patterns. He does need to continue to get stronger for the NFL as he lacks the body power to consistently fight through tackle attempts and is disappointing as a blocker. Boyd's off-field decision-making also needs vetted after a DUI arrest earlier this month, which will likely lead to some type of suspension to begin the 2015 season. Philadelphia Eagles first round pick Nelson Agholor has a little more twitch and Boyd is more detailed, but there are similarities on film between the two wide receivers.

James Conner, RB, Junior (6-2, 250, 4.86)
Conner will be a fascinating test case for the current style of the NFL because 25 years ago, he likely would be viewed as a lock first round pick due to his bruising run power. But 250-pound running backs with 4.7-4.8 speed aren't found on many rosters in today's NFL. Conner is one of college football's most productive running backs, coming off a 1,765 rushing yard season that earned him ACC Player of the Year honors. He rushed for an ACC-record 26 touchdowns and earned First Team All-American honors, just the third Pitt running back to achieve that status (Craig “Ironhead” Heyward – 1987, Tony Dorsett – 1976).

A smash-mouth, physical ballcarrier, Conner does an excellent job running behind his pads and attacking the line of scrimmage with purpose. He is much more than simply a battering ram, however, quickly reading blocks and picking up momentum off his plant foot to keep his legs pumping and finish falling forward. Conner, who is beloved within the Pitt program for his work ethic and leadership, doesn't have the speed or twitchy moves to consistently make defenders miss and create his own yardage with elusiveness, but he runs decisive and makes it a chore on tacklers to get him on the ground. Conner is the favorite to again win ACC Player of the Year honors this season, although NFL scouts are skeptical about his transition and role at the next level.

With the playoff system, it makes it more difficult to truly predict a national champion.

I'll be honest, I wasn't even sure they deserved to be in the final four last year. That they won is a testament, but it also shows that it's not necessarily as much about the national champion being the best team in the country any more.

But if you asked me to pick who wins this year, I'd say Ohio State over bama. Bama is stacked this year too.

NOTRE DAME’S JAYLON SMITH A POTENTIAL NO. 1 PICK?

There is still plenty of time until the 2016 NFL Draft, but there has already been plenty of discussion about who will be the top player selected.

Of course, you have the top signal-callers and Florida State Seminoles defensive back Jalen Ramsey, but now there is another player who is creating a lot of buzz as a potential top pick.

Enter Notre Dame Fighting Irish inside linebacker Jaylon Smith.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller was discussing his rankings when he said that Smith is comparable to former San Francisco 49ers star linebacker Patrick Willis.

That is a very strong endorsement of the inside linebacker.

With those kind of comments, Smith will have plenty of eyes on him in 2015. Will he be able to live up to that hype and establish himself as a the top player in all of college football? Only time will tell.

its always fun to read the preseason predictions as they start watching these guys in practice and at the upcoming "blue vs white" internal scrimmages. It's going to be fun to look back on some of these stories next March.

TBH, if Petty looks good this season in TC/PS(game 4) and during practices.... the Jets may pass on a 1st rd. QB
and pick another developmental guy in the 3rd./4th again. If he doesn't seem to be picking up the "O" and there is a sure thing QB in rd. 1... we may take him. Can't see us trading up and losing picks next year. 2016 is a critical draft. We need replacements for Brick and Mangold( not sure anyone on current roster is capable). Also need a RB next year(Ivory FA as well as Powell and Ridley).

If the Jets stick to tradition, they will go after Joey Bosa DL 6'6"/275 from Ohio State ! Just kidding fellow draftniks, I know he will be long gone by the time we pick. We need a LT to groom to replace Brick.

Go Jets...Cyborg

Looks like it should be a pretty good class of OTs. Guys like Ronnie Stanley (ND), Laremy Tunsil (Ole Miss), Taylor Decker (Ohio St) and Spencer Drango (Baylor) all look like solid prospects at this stage.

A guy who can step in at RT fro Breno (so we can get rid of his salary) who can eventually replace Brick would be ideal.

Agreed. If we don't land a top QB we need to land a top LT that can start day 1 RT...

So you're not putting much stock in Petty? Did MacDaddy waste a 4th round pick?
If you're taking the #1 pick and going QB.... your basically saying we wasted a 4th rd. pick.

Not sure I follow that logic. A 4th round pick on a QB is a flyer as far as a long term answer. If that pick turns into a backup QB that is a good use IMO and should have no influence on whether you take a shot at 1st round QB you believe to be the real deal.

Since 2000, Here are your 1st round QB's. Maybe 4 Elite(Rivers and Ryan) with Ben and Rodgers having SB titles, 6 Quality starters, some with playoff wins and a couple with SB trophies (Manning and Flacco).
The rest were not worth the draft position they were taken at, although many coming out of college were ranked as a Day 1 pick.

Aaron Rodgers, Alex Smith, Andrew Luck, Ben Roethlisberger, Blaine Gabbert, Blake Bortles
Brady Quinn, Brandon Weeden, Byron Leftwich, Cam Newton, Carson Palmer, Chad Pennington, Christian Ponder, David Carr, EJ Manuel, Eli Manning, J.P. Losman, Jake Locker, JaMarcus Russell, Jameis Winston, Jason Campbell, Jay Cutler, Joe Flacco, Joey Harrington, Johnny Manziel, Josh Freeman, Kyle Boller, Marcus Mariota, Mark Sanchez, Matt Leinart, Matt Ryan, Matthew Stafford, Michael Vick, Patrick Ramsey, Philip Rivers Rex Grossman, Robert Griffin III, Ryan Tannehill, Sam Bradford, Teddy Bridgewater, Tim Tebow, Vince Young

Then you have the Qb's taken in later rounds;
Quarterback Year Drafted Round Drafted Years in Top 10
Tom Brady 2000 6 9
Marc Bulger 2000 6 3
Drew Brees 2001 2 11
Tony Romo 2003 UDFA 6
Russell Wilson 2012 3 3

Wilson, Brady and Brees being SB winners.

Brees and Wilson are out, they went higher than Rd 4...also, if those are the only names of all the qbs that went after Rd 1 you can come up with...than its officially a flyer and less than 1 % chance petty is successful in the nfl.

i agree which is why a sister forum is the way to go i really hope we can get some of these other forums going though also
Terminology correction.
JetsFansUnited is a FORUM or BOARD.
The terms are interchangeable
It has many sub-forums, which can have sub-sub-forums of their own too, though those are usually referred to as just sub-forums of the board hierarchy directly above them.
It's a similar construct to your computer's "directory" or "file tree" as we used to call it in them olden days, with folders within folders.
In FACT, that's EXACTLY what it is on the server, simply a folder with other folders inside it.

This board is the featured sub-forum for most people, but only because it's the one most frequently visited and serves as the general chat board for any and all subjects about the Jets in general.

I believe what you are suggesting is to create a DRAFT SUB-FORUM, and pin a perma-linky here on THIS sub-forum, to it.

A sister forum would have a completely different IP address & not be an actual part of JetsFandsUnited at all.
On the servers, it might not even be on the same hard drive at all & you couldn't get there from here, so to speak, by simply going "up-folder".
