Either that or those of us stuck inside on a rainy August day in the Chicago area. The kid Wentz is interesting -- he is the reason to watch this one. Good chance we are talking about him among next year's draft prospects.

I know. I'm just messin' with ya a little.

It's nice to know that both NFL and college football is upon us. Best time of the year.

thought this was interesting. both mcshay and kiper have released their initial big boards and the QBs aren't ranked as high as many (myself included) would have thought. lots of defensive players high on their boards, including a bunch of d-lineman {insert comments about the jets drafting another d-lineman in the 1st here}

focusing on the QBs

mcshay has goff #10 , cardale jones #19 , hackenberg #20 , and cook #23 (top 32 listed)

kiper has goff #7 , hackenberg #8 and jones #25 (top 25 listed)

The Jets will probably have to suck this year for Goff. He's already getting predictable Aaron Rodgers comparisons. But we could conceivably go 9-7, 10-6 and get a shot at Hackenberg or Cook at the bottom of round one.

Hmmm, not too wild about Hackenberg after Saturday's performance. Cook right now would be my choice, but I'm hoping Petty turns out better than any of them.

Ezekiel Elliott is a monster. I'm of the opinion that you don't draft a RB in the TOP 10 unless he's a difference maker, like an Adrian Peterson, and this kid fits the bill. He has a good chance to win the Heisman this year.

Only thing that might hurt Zeke is that he and Cardale Jones could end up splitting the midwest votes and someone else could steal it. Catches, blocks, good speed, decisive cuts, everything you want in a RB. Reminds me of a smaller Todd Gurley, and if Gurley want 10 coming off of the injury, no reason this kid shouldn't go that high as long as he stays healthy.

Elliott is not going to win anything if he only gets 3 carries in a half. And keeps fielding punts. Gotta feed the kid in the 2nd half.
I was just coming to post the same thing, but you beat me too it. 4 Carries for Elliott in the first half is borderline coaching malpractice. Very surprising considering Meyer is one of the best college coaches in the business, if not the best, but its a classic case of brain-lock. When you have a monster like Elliott in the backfield, you get him 30 Carries per game!

I think it's time we drafted offensive line. Are there LT prospects worthy of a first round pick?

Laremy Tunsil of Ole Miss and Ronnie Stanley of ND are probably the two best prospects, but I hope we are not drafting high enough to get either of them. They could both be top 5 prospects.

Mid first could be a guy like Taylor Decker of Ohio State. I am sure there are others, but those are the 3 that immediately come to mind.

I'm finally starting to wake up to the bigger picture of football... 😊

In the past, I've always kind of focused on the 'sexy' pics - QB, WR etc...

Reading you guys, it's sinking in that we need the 'brut' picks, OL etc... Hopefully our WRs have a good year and Petty shows up well, so that we can strengthen our OL, to get it somewhere in the same ballpark as the defence.
