Yeah I see it now. Glad the bye week is later on in season. That week 4 crap last year was ruff. Schedule doesn’t look that bad at all but then again, we are the Jets and we are still a rebuilding team. So who knows!

So far I’ve seen two projections on bleacher report and ESPN of a 7-9 records. Sounds about right. I didn’t realize how tuff the schedule was. They say this is the second hardest schedule in the league. Behind the Patriots, I believe.

All of the AFC EAST teams have the toughest schedules because they all play NFC and AFC WEST. So very unlikely that wild card will be possible from our division. Have to win the division to be in the playoffs. Not this year.

I see the Jets having a hard time with this schedule and winning about 7 games at most for a few reasons:

1. Just the schedule in its self: I initially looked at it and thought it wouldn't be so bad but playing the NFC and AFC West will be though.

2. Adam Gase: I don't trust him and don't see him as even a good HC, or a QB or offensive guru. I was initially happy with the hire last year but all that has changed. Hopefully they will fire him if he doesn't get this team to a better than 7 win season but they probably will give him another year or two.

3. Sam Darnold's health: I think Darnold can and will be a very good to great QB but he can't seem to stay healthy. This is two straight years that he has missed three games for whatever reason and until that changes, the Jets will struggle.

4. I don't think we have enough offensive weapons yet: Self explanatory.

5. Defense: We seems that we will struggle there also. Secondary and pass rushing issues.

It's going to be a tough start for the the Jets, Hell, the O-line has not even been in the same room at the same time to this point. They probably don't know each others names yet. I've been told that it takes some time for a group of lineman to gel into a cohesive unit and with what, at least 4 new starters on the line that might tale several games. On the bright side even if they don't meet until 10 minutes before the first game they will still be better than the mess they insulted the league with last season.;)
Does anyone have any idea how long it takes such a unit to come together? Any coaches out there?

Joe Douglas built this offensive line knowing the limited time they will likely get they will be able to execute the game plan... We drafted a raw technically sound road grader who will likely start at right tackle to develop his technique to move over to the left side in year two or three... Signing Van Roten, and McGovern gives the team flexibility in scheme as both are technically sound and the short area quickness allows them to convert speed to power while executing a zone based scheme... Brian Winters apparently not getting any credit but his style is based on zone blocking, before he had to reach to help out either the center or tackle sometimes he had to pick one or the other... Wild card, Larry Warford the Jets could target him with $18 M funds under the cap with an additional funds to come after post June cuts... Larry Warford is the typical road grader with short area quickness and made a staple with his speed to power on the snap...

George Fant's light feet and initial punch rounds out the line either with Brian Winters or possible signing of Larry Warford... Fant is a place holder until Mekhi Becton is able to develop into the franchise starting left tackle...

Frank Pollack's scheme will allow the team to simplify the blocking scheme to maximize immediate continuity... The chemistry will develop over time for the running game and passing attack...

before free agency and the draft had this team winning no more than 5 games...
after free agency and focusing on adding or replacing the offensive line, I bumped that 5 to 7 games...
after the draft and taking two offensive linemen, adding a RB and receivers both drafted and priority free agents I believe this team can win a minimum of 9 games with potential to exceed 12 games win the division and actually make a playoff appearance...

lemme explain myself, the way the team's adversity beginning of last season when Sam went down, with the kissing disease the team still competed at a high level but the chemistry from the QB spot to the offense was the main reason they fell short... with a healthy Sam, we could continue that high level of play we saw at the back half of the season winning six of eight...

the game plan was built for Sam, the backups didn't get enough time to prepare to play but bringing back Fales for as much as we don't like the name he will have a full year and some what off season to be better prepared to sub in if need be... the continuity on the offensive line is not the concern it is the timing factor for the running game, the game plan for the running game should be the main focus right now... bringing back Ryan Griffin, and Daniel Brown along with Chris Herndon and second year man Trevon Wesco allows a comfort level for Sam in the passing attack, add in Jamison Crowder and LeVeon Bell he has enough targets to allow the other newcomers time to develop chemistry with him... Most of the chemistry will be built week to week in practice, and with the right game plan week to week he will build comfort ability with all of his skill players moving along the season...

Love your enthusiasm and I wish I could see it your way, but I don't. I hope I'm wrong and your right!!!

The only disagreement I have is that I believe Becton will be the day 1 left tackle. He and Fant on the outside will be miles better than what we had the first two years of Darnold's tenure.

I should add If the ref's see the ghost too. then there will be too many flags for 12 players on the field......I think we should be better too.
