I didn't want him in the first place, though I do admit to being temporarily in his spell after the home game against the Patsies. Remember though that for Rodgers to work he needed support from a credible rushing attack, which when JD got Smith, Simpson and Moses I honestly thought we would provide. Two features of the season have been Rodgers' inability to throw downfield and Hall's inability to make yards other than from dump-offs, and it all comes back to the line.

I, for one, don't believe half of that shit being promoted on line by these self proclaimed in the know experts. Rogers is not a bad guy. He's just broken. I think he wants to do the right thing for the Jets. I'll believe that stuff you get on line when I hear it from him. I don't think he ever really got healed either and that contributed to his poor play. He might not ever be 100% again in which case he will be showing more of the same every time he hits the field. Let's see if he improves after the bye week. That should give us some indication of how much he has left in the tank. If he doesn't look better he probably should step down and retire.

This is a tough decision even for Woody I believe. He might want to bench Rogers just to see what Tyrod at the helm would do for the team. Unless he's considering Tyrod for the starting position next season that would be a fruitless endeavor. A waste of time. He also might want to try finish the season with Rogers, if his injury situation has improved, to see what a healthy Rogers can do to turn it around. After all, The Rogers deal was as much his doing as anyone else's. My hunch is that the latter choice is the one he will make.
Rodgers gives us the best chance of a top five draft pick. Tyrod is more likely to move the offense but he doesn't represent a longterm future.

WAS one of the best QBs ever to play the game. Hall of Famer, sure. Unfortunately injury probability increases with age and I do have personal experience of that. Other franchises demonstrate their lack of interest by omission, Father Time sacks every QB eventually. As I have said elsewhere, for Rodgers to succeed he needed a strong O line and good rushing attack. If we brought Goff or Stafford here they would struggle for the same reasons. Tyrod is more likely to move the offense behind a questionable line because he is more mobile.No disrespect intended here, my friend, but who told you that no other team would want him ? I haven't personally heard of any team at all saying that. Rogers, not my opinion, but the opinion of most knowledgeable football annalist, is one of the best QBs to ever play the game when healthy and a shoe in 1st ballot future hall of famer. Right now he's playing injured. Fact not being considered by some. Those of us, and I am counting you in as one of those, who know anything about throwing a football realize that accuracy for most QBs is that good footwork is paramount to that happening consistently. Injuries such as those he is dealing with, a hammy and ankle not only hamper that but also his mobility. Amplify that by fracturing in his age and I think we all need to cut him a little slack. Am I saying he's not the problem ? Nope. He is a big part of the problem, but he isn't the cause of it. Were , I am not going to lay blame on it. Oh hell, I AM going to lay blame on it. Where the hell has that super "O" line that we are supposed to now have been hiding ? I see very poor pass protection and almost no running lanes opened up. My Opinion, blame the damn "O" line because they truly suck.
I mostly agree with you here. Rogers was one of the best, but, I also remember watching him in training camp when he was still healthy. He still looked great. He was making all the throws and I mean all the throws. I would like to see him healthy before I give up on him. BUT, you are correct that age increases injury probability and mostly makes recovery much more difficult. We knew at the onset that Rogers was going to need a reliable "O" line to flourish. He didn't really get that which is why he got hurt. I also agree that Tyrod would better deal with the inadequacies of this "O" line than Rogers, but, not for long. I'm not advocating that Rogers is the answer for this team. I think his time as an effective starter in this league is near it's end. I also think that if healthy he might survive another season and hopefully groom his replacement. I'm going to just watch and see what unfolds and hope that whatever Woody does turns out to be the right thing. It's all I can do. Jets games lately have been very painful to watch so I just head to the woods and check the final score when I get back to the house.
