They may not have had a choice, but Rodgers is all about being wanted. The Packers are showing they want to trade him, and the Jets are showing they want him here.
I think the holdup is Rodgers commitment to playing TWO years as opposed to one. To me, if this is a one year rental, then I think it’s time to switch gears . Problem is everyone on Earth knows we want Rodgers. Tannehill, Jimmy, and any other QB don’t want to feel like second fiddle, and that’s how they are going to feel. JD has his pants at his ankles on this one. It’s Rodgers or bust now. The only way out would be to trade up in the draft for a QB, which then puts Zach’s pants at his ankles, and ruins ( if not already so) any value the kid would have
I would take him for one year. But I would also make sure the Jets had safeguards in terms of the trade compensation. Either a conditional pick based on him playing a second year, or a pick coming back to the Jets if he retires after one season.
yeah this holdup is not Rodgers, IMO...this is about compensation/contract stuff. I've heard Michael Lombardi say he thinks GB is still chasing a 1st rd pick. Rodgers i'm assuming gave his blessing in the meeting and now until a deal is struck, he is a muted employee of the Packers. This is where I have money on JD - he ain't no sucker making trades.

Packers President, Mark Murphy, announced that we should have a resolution before free agency starts. I'm not sure if he meant the legal tampering period, which is Monday, or start of actual free agency on Wednesday. We'll just have to keep an eye on Bigmoe til then.
