Do the Jets really have any leverage at all? They backed themselves into having no choice but to give up what GB wants.

Also, am I the only one thinking that that they are mortgaging their future for a year or two of wildcard at best until they are back to where they were to begin with?
You're not alone. I've been up on the soap box about this for weeks. Gonna hit the Rodgers thralls like a ton of solidified ayahuasca when this all goes down.

If we are dumb enough to fall into a position of your
description above and pay for it for years, for one or two years, we deserve to. The Jets always have Ralph Kramden schemes that are rinse and repeat.

Good to hear from you "G". Like I mentioned somewhere on here recently...........time is no longer on Green Bays side. It will cost them financially if they drag this out too long. It also makes them look bad.
Green bay has to drag it out past June 1 to spread the dead cap over 2 years. Rodgers option doesn't have to be picked up until Sept . The day prior to their first game, so they have nothing but time.
They have their hopefull QB of the future in Love with 2 years remaining on his Rookie deal to offset the dead cap.
I think they may even prefer future picks to this years.

I dont see either team really having leverage in this situation. The Jets are all in on Rodgers and Green Bay is done with his drama. Rodgers is getting up in age but he did win 2 MVPs back to back one season ago.
Wild card or AFC East champs, just get in to the playoffs and you have a chance to win it all.
What is a legit championship possibility worth to the Jets, what is the financial hit worth to Green Bay ? Im sure the two teams will find the common ground and reach a deal if it has not already been agreed to.

That's correct Tony, but they don't gain anything by waiting. Love is entering the last year of his 4 year contract and they will likely pick up his 5th year option that will cost them around 20 million and they have to do it by May 1st.

My wife & I are in love for 30 years on may 8th with no written contract......I should sign for another 30 years. But I remind her I have been married to the jets since 1964.......for better or for worse

I have a strong feeling that this trade doesn't happen until post June 1st. The holdup isn't this years draft picks like many are debating. It's financial compensation. So figure somewhere between June and Sept with a total of two draft picks from 2024-2025 or one from each. The media will continue pretending new updates with old information just to get you to read and speculate what each organization would do. It makes for conversation but nothing else.
It might very well be post June because it allows GB to spread Rogers' cap hit.

They absolutely are but I guess that they believe it is worth it.

I know as much as anyone else here not named GMF, but my two cents is that a deal has already been agreed to and now it’s all about timing and saving face. Unless someone reneges, there will be a new #12 behind center.
