Another Year, Another Competition Tilted in Geno Smith's Favor

Three years ago, Mark fucking Sanchez threw the ball to Tim fucking Tebow on a flat route and hit him in the back of his fucking helmet.

Today, our quarterback situation is somehow even fucking worse.

Excuse my language but I felt the need to get that off my chest before camp opens

Do you really think it's worse Mo?

In my opinion, Fitzpatrick is better than Tebow and Sanchez were. I'm on the Geno support side because he is young and I do not like to give up on players. However, it's about him showing us the progress.

If Geno does not win the job in a fair competition, i do not want him as the starting qb on the team.

Well, I'm kinda fed up

Like some of our other " long time " fans who are tired of throwing away season after season
I think we all know where we each stand and I just put it out there for me before camp begins, no faith in Geno
Hoping for Fitz, but who knows?
As far as the tebowcant throw thread, don't remember. Can he throw? Don't think so
And if we're in wayward pines we're all fucked

Well not necessarily. As 55 pointed out in another thread Fitz is off an broken leg, which he broke late in the season. He just might not be ready, which gives the CS a chance to down play the QB competition, and get a final look at Smith.

Personally, I don't know. Time will tell

They can't hide that for too long. If Fitz can't play , that will be known before week 1

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - Geno Smith just shrugged and smiled.

For the second straight offseason, he was ranked the NFL's worst quarterback in a recent ESPN poll of 35 NFL insiders, including league executives and coaches.

But the Jets signal-caller simply waved off the criticism on Wednesday.
"I laugh at that," Smith said hours after he and his teammates reported to the team's New Jersey practice facility for training camp. "I laugh at it. It's hilarious.

"It was hilarious last year, too," he added. "It doesn't matter at this point. We've got to work on us as a team. That's why I hate to talk about individual stuff because it's a team game. No matter what they rate me, wherever we finish at the end of the year is most important."

That's good. Just brush off the negativity

Does this dingbat even realize the team went 4-12 last season in large part due to his poor play?

I'm sure he realizes but he's put the past behind him and he's focusing on this upcoming year as he should. Last year is history.

Maybe it is because I haven't liked what I have seen on the field from the kid, but when he speaks like this, to me he sounds like someone who lacks confidence that is trying to convince himself he is good enough. It comes across to me as false bravado. Trying to say what people want to hear.

That said, ranking him 32nd, behind a couple of guys who have not taken NFL snaps yet is ridiculous.

I get that and you could be right but at the same time it could be interpreted as confidence. No one knows for sure until the pads are on and the game is being played in full speed.

Geno always says the right things but he just needs to show it on the field.

Yup, if he does the job on the field, I probably won't care what he has to say.

Just think Hilarious was a very poor choice of words. Most Jets' fans didn't find his play funny at all. He came off somewhat arrogant, and content with his level of play.

Kind of reminded me of Browning Nagle when the Jets signed Boomer. "Seems like an awful lot of money to sign my back up" or Captain Edward John Smith. "This ship is unsinkable."

Exactly Elias... Good point. Geno ALWAYS says the right things. But he ALWAYS does the wrong things on the field. Does that sound at all familiar? Like staring into the careers of a million highly touted young players coming into this league that ultimately fail miserably. This is the same old scenario happening with Geno.

He's holding on in order to milk the Jets for all the money he can until the Jets finally decide to get rid of him. He knows his days are numbered. He MUST. Or else he wouldn't be constantly trying to play amnesia victim.

For the record, I agree with Golden Rott. It comes across as very fake and planned. The Jets need a QB that can win for them and Geno knows he is not the guy.
