Wrecks making more big splashes. It's also an admission that Manuel is a bust.

Wow, who does Cassell even play for now? Thought he was retired or just not playing now.

I'm not scared of Matt Cassell or EJ Manual. The Bills are a decent team, but they're not going anywhere with these QB's.

Matt Cassel - QB - Bills
Bills acquired QB Matt Cassel and an undisclosed draft pick from the Vikings in exchange for two undisclosed draft picks.
After swinging a blockbuster deal for LeSean McCoy on Tuesday, GM Doug Whaley is back at it again Wednesday. After losing out to the Browns for Josh McCown, the Bills turned their attention to the trade market. It's basically a salary dump by the Vikings, who save $4.75 million against the cap and further clear the quarterback room for Teddy Bridgewater. Cassel, 33 in May, appeared in 12 games (nine starts) for Minnesota the past two seasons, composing a 4-5 record with a 14:13 TD:INT ratio and 6.9 YPA average. He's nothing more than a game manager who will compete with E.J. Manuel for the starting job.

Buffalo needed to add a veteran quarterback this offseason, and now the Bills have their man: Matt Cassel.

The Bills and Vikings announced today that they have agreed to a trade that will send Cassel to Buffalo. Technically the trade can’t be completed until the league year starts on Tuesday, but both teams have agreed to it.

The Vikings will get draft pick compensation for Cassel. So far there’s no word on the nature of the picks being swapped in the deal, but they’re presumably late-round draft choices.

Cassel opened last season as the Vikings’ starter but suffered a season-ending injury in Week Three, and with the emergence of Teddy Bridgewater last year, there was little reason for the Vikings to bring Cassel back.

In Buffalo, Cassel will compete with EJ Manuel to be the starter. The winner of that competition will hand off to LeSean McCoy, whom the Bills traded for on Tuesday. The Bills are off to an active start this offseason, even before the opening of free agency.

LOL, Rex is making the same mistakes in Buffalo as he did here. The guy didn't learn a thing in his first go-around, apparently.

For some reason he thinks he can rehabilitate and resurrect every malcontent, problem child, over the hill, overpaid, and underachieving bum from the street.

He brought the Jets such amazing players as Plax Burress, Santonio Holmes, Mike Vick, Chris Johnson, Braylon Edwards, Tim Tebow, and the list goes on and on. Too often he casted away the blue collar guys (Leon Washington, Cotchery, Brad Smith, etc), guys who were the meat of the team, to bring these circus performers in. The recipe proved to be a giant bust.

So his first 3 moves with the Bills has been: sign Richie freakin' Incognito, trade blue collar LB, Kiko Alonso, away to aquire malcontent Shady McCoy, and now sign has-been Matt Cassell. Geesh.

Congrats, Buffalo. Rex is all yours now!

Cowherd is praising Chip Kelley about this move. And I agree with him. No way I trade a young, tough SOB like Alonso away, with so much potential, for a 7th year RB. RB's go downhill fast, and "Shady" isn't that far off from retirement.

I agree I think the Eagles made out on that trade. The Eagles fans were going crazy over the deal but they received a LB who will be around for a long time and the same can’t be said about the RB. Also Bills will have less to spend now in FA and its reported that McCoy wasnot happy with the trade to Buffalo.

“According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, the Bills have up their first fifth-round pick in 2015 as well as their seventh-round pick in exchange for Cassel and a sixth-round pick.”

On to Matt Cassell I don’t think he was brought in to start. If so then REX is an idiot. There were rumors last night that the Bills had a trade in place for a QB and my first thought was Sam Bradford boy was I wrong.

He's 26, I wouldn't say he's that close to retirement either. Probably 4 good years left. Lynch is 28 as an example, I'd say Lynch has 2 good years left, so McCoy probably has 4.

I almost feel bad for the Bills. If only Buffalo could team Rex up with Isaiah Thomas as GM. Then they could trade away the team's next 10 1st round picks to bring in every bust of a player and/or convicted felon from the last three years.

I'm sure Rex is already dreaming of Vince Young handing off to Shady McCoy and Ray Rice, while Justin Blackmon and Josh Gordon are out there running deep posts.

Cassell is being brought in to compete to start, it is up to Manual if he can beat him out. They are giving manual another shot, but he has to beat cassell, not a given.

Also, Im glad they didnt get Bradford.

Many of us have been saying this for awhile but WRECKS really is clueless regarding personnel

For him it's about names and splashes, not value or talent.

Cassell is now a four team scrap heap guy they could have got as a cut. Instead off go draft picks

McCoy, a big splash who might be good short term (or might be Chris Johnson redux). Cost, a former DPOY who will be helping the Eagles for five seasons after McCoy heads off to the shady area of retirement.

As with the Jets, draft picks are nothing more than trinkets to be handed out for Tebows and Holmes, traded away to move up and grab stars like Suckchez, Greene and Hill, or just wasted for non football reasons like Scotty McKnight, John Conner and Tajh Boyd

Fortunately for us, it's the Bills he is wrecking this time with his impulsiveness, ignorance and carelessness

The amazing thing to me is how Rex gets GM's to sign off on these personnel moves.

If I were a sales manager, no matter what I was selling, Rex would be the first round pick to be on my team. The way he charms these GM's and gets them on board with absurdly illogical player decisions is a modern day miracle. He's like a snake charmer that just hypnotizes these guys into suspending all common sense and objective reasoning.

Not kidding here but Rex could be the GOAT of salesmanship.

He has the power in Buffalo. The owner was looking to fire the GM/team president and bring in Polian. When that fell through, Ryan got a 5 year deal worth big money. He's calling the shots, and once the team gets further away from what Marrone put in place(similar to here when the Mangini factor faded), the Bills will fall apart.
