I never envision Bowles going for it in those situations. He would have kicked a field goal when at the goal line and would have punted when it’s fourth down, w the lead and the ball at mid field.

Agreed. This is why a player like Kirk Cousins would not work out here. Regardless of the fact I think he's a marginal player at best... If he were Joe Montana it wouldn't matter. Blowes would not know how to get the best out of him. he would try to force him to do something he's never done before. Blowes coaching style does not mesh with a young players development.

Does anyone know how many 4th down attempts Bowles has in his 3 years here??...can't be very many.

Jet coaches have always been intimidated by Belichicks success...even the tough sounding Rex "I'm not here to kiss Bill Belichicks rings" statement, you could clearly hear the fear in his voice.

Bowles coaches about as scared as any I have ever seen. He even looks paralyzed with fear on the sideline...Time to wake up Todd !!

I agree with this part. But 31 other coaches would not have called that game. Some of the worst coaching this year in the playoffs.....so don't just pick on TB

I dont care about the other coaches. I care about who coaches the Jets and I think an upgrade is warranted. He's our coach and I will support him but his conservative playcalling is an issue. The league has passed him by. You need to be pass happy and aggressive.

bowles will never, ever, be pass happy.. hell, he's not even aggressive on his side of the ball with almost all of the teams top draft picks & talent..

but at the end of the day, this is on the johnson's.. why hire & extend an unimaginative, uninspired, stubborn, cowardly, emotion detached defensive HC in a league that's been pass happy 15+ years running??

I'll say this about the HC of the NYJ, To me it doesn't matter if he is called Todd,Bowles, Toilet, Blowes.What does matter to me is a coach that knows what he is doing and is good at it.
The 2015 season with a journey man Qb and one of the weakest schedules that i can remember the Jets went 10-6. Still missed the playoffs.
2016 the wheels completely fell off. From horrid QB play,to terrible game planning and player preparedness. Atrocious from top to bottom. 5-11.
2017,with a roster predicted to win 1-2 game tops. Another career year from another journeyman QB, a young and aggressive defense.I thought good coaching for most of the year. It's still 5-11
This is professional football,no participation trophy's. The object is to win, back to back 5-11 seasons is not winning.
What i'm having a bit of a problem with is Bowles hirings. We state that we need stability. His first OC hire was Chan Gailey, he lasted 2 seasons and retired again. Why? is it he couldn't get along with Bowles? Bowles revamped quite a few coacing positions going into 2017. He interviewed and hired J.Morton, who i thought did a pretty good job considering the talent level on that side of the ball. After 1 season he is gone,why? reportedly he didn't get along with or refused input from Bowles. Bowles came here a a defensive whizkid.For the amount of resources thrown into the defense
it is still lacking.It is time he makes the players on his team, better.Whether their a first round linebacker, a second round QB or fourth round WR. Put them in positions to succeed.
I am optimistic about 2018, depending on the QB,if it's Cousins and they rebuild that o-line.Great. I'll be looking for at least a wildcard. If it's a drafted QB, then steady positive progress is the key for me.Again with a rebuilt o-line.
Bowles has to raise his game. No more participation trophies for him. No more coordinators taking the hit or not taking a hit (Rodgers).Bowles job is etched in wins and losses.
Time to start having more wins than losses.

My understanding is that Bowles felt that Morton threw more than he liked. He wanted a power running team. We did not have a power back and we had one of the worst OL in football.
