BINGO!
Now that was an un seen receiver who was wide open
Every time I look at that highlight, even knowing the outcome, even 45+ years later, it scares me! :global (37):BINGO!

Must really be a deflating feeling to look at that for Brady and other pats.
One thing thaw was plain to see in that game was how much BETTER Denver's defense was than ours. Denver actually had a masterful plan for that game. Not only that but the players executed that plan to perfection. I never saw the Jets defense do the same thing against that kind of competition at all this season.
The Jets defense was very good this season, no doubt. But really prior to going into the season, I was telling anyone asking that the Jets being the number 1 defense would not be surprising at all. I was wrong about that. They left a little to be desired and I never saw that pedigree from Todd Bowles which said, "This is the reason why he got hired". At least not in a big game.
The NE game IMO is not a good example of winning with a great defensive game plan. NE was so ravaged by injuries that the Jets defense had far less to worry about. Not the same with Denver and NE. Denver's defense managed to neutralize New England's full compliment of weapons.
So really the jets defense this season, although it was very good, was a bit of a disappointment this defense. And to me this is just another reason why most objective fans should be a little hesitant to support Todd Bowles. He got outcoached quite a bit this season and often the players showed up flat and lacked discipline in games.
MJ is correct that the Jets defense did not do what the Broncos defense did, but not many team did. Broncos had the number 1 defense this year.
MJ - keep your chin up, Bowles knows what the problem is on defense and he will work to correct it this year. In his year-end conference, he noted that the jets MUST get faster. Once we get the horses to play the defense he wants, we'll be fine
You are entitled to your opinion, and I am not someone who thinks everything the Jets do is perfect, but you are not objective. You seem so negative that you skew what you think. And I meant to mention that the Jets definitely need a few linebackers. That's probably their biggest weakness. However, the Jets have the superior defensive line to Denver. So to say the difference as to why Denver's defense is so much better than ours is a few linebackers is grasping at straws at best. We also had the superior secondary. We also were SUPPOSED to have the superior coaching in Todd Bowles.
So to say a few linebackers makes all the difference in their favor is nonsense. Todd Bowles needs to be a BETTER head coach. And really is this any surprise? He just came off his rookie season and he sucked pretty bad, but that's pretty much par for the course.

Our secondary came out like the Jets in west side story to start the year. They were everywhere and brutally disruptive. Remember skrine blitzing like 6 straight plays? After that beginning, they lost a lot of effectiveness, and I'm not sure why. Maybe we were easy to expose after the other teams had some film.
But I would say this year was a huge step in the right direction through the entire organization. I'm happy with our draft, fa signings, and demeanor. I'm hopeful mac will carry that into year 2. Bowles certainly could have been better, but not bad from a first year coach. 10 wins and a chance at 12 is nothing to scoff at. I don't like the guys coming out flat, I hope that will be addressed.
Denver has the best d, and the new England game showed what 2 stud olb pass rushers, bound for the hall of fame, can do to Brady. The closest we have to either is Mauldin maybe when he develops. Denver put out a really good line, a solid secondary, with some scary olb play. Their defense carried their below average offense to a super bowl.
I think we have 3 equally pressing needs to address at rb, olb, and cb via draft and fa. Maybe we can get cotchery back?

A- Worse than anything else, we have to tolerate losing twice to the Jets new arch nemesis.
B--Todd Bowles fucked up the season end.
C-- But I also think he'll NEVER be Bill Bellicick or even someone like Mike McCarthy, Ron Rivera? Those guys are the kind of talent the Jets should be looking at getting as their coach. Guys that can ultimately get things done.
I totally agree with A and B, and I'm still sick about it , seems like I have this illness for 44 years now
But I'll agree with C when we have a QB named Tom , Aaron , or Cam like those coaches have . I'd like to see what they would do with guys like Josh , Brian , or Fitz
