After this season if the Jets choose to move on from Breno there will only be a dead loss of $1.25 M that can be split between two years... Breno has been less than an average right tackle who has hurt the team on many of occasions with his penalties... Especially with those personal foul calls, drive killers...
If anyone I would like to see get his shot is our backup left tackle Ben Ijalana... If he is good enough to be a role player for the LT position then he should be good enough to start at right tackle...
Since we claimed him in 2013 he has been fairly durable and has played consistently well for us in a role spot... Think it is about time we see what this young man has to offer... So a reasonable contract re-signing is a must with incentives if he holds down the job, but Breno has to go... And below is Giacomini's contract layout via OTC

Entering draft day Ijalana was listed as a second round prospect with the possibility of jumping into the first round. He was projected as a right tackle, following his strong showing as a left tackle in college and his good arm length and hand size. Additionally he had the ability to fall back as a guard. On day two of the draft, the Indianapolis Colts traded their 53rd and 152nd pick to the Redskins for the 49th pick that Ijalana was selected at.
Ijalana played four games in his rookie season before tearing his ACL and landing on injured reserve.
A few weeks after being cleared to play, Ijalana tore his ACL again during training camp in 2012. Ijalana was eventually declared out for the 2012 season. He was waived/injured on August 1, 2012, and he was subsequently placed on injured reserve on August 5.
