Broncos and 49ers have an agreement in place for a trade, per Schefter

I may be crazy, but... What if Fitzpatrick's camp has already agreed to a deal, but it is not being announced because of the cap situation? Something has to happen in order for the Jets to have the cap space to sign the QB, either cutting Breno Giac and restructuring Brick/Mangold, etc or trading Mo. I think its the latter, and the Jets aren't announcing it because it would hurt our bargaining position with Wilkerson trade partners.

I'm not so sure. Cap isn't agreeing to the Broncos restructuring of his contract so far. I'm also hearing that essentially the Broncos offer for Cap is 7 million per season. WAY below the league average for a veteran QB. More or less the same money Fitz is being offered from the Jets.

Now granted under any scenario Cap is still getting paid by the Niners in 2016 and that makes that 7 million he's getting from the Broncos just icing on the cake.

But I really am hoping this trade comes to fruition because it essentially means that Fitz potential suitors have officially dried up. It will be time for Fitz to sign with the NYJ because he will not have any more potential landing spots to use as leverage in negotiations with the Jets.
I don't believe kap would be double dipping, I'm not sure, but everything being reported has not said that.

His contract is guaranteed so he can sit tight and get paid. If he wants to get the hell out of dodge and join a sb team, he has to take a pay cut. I would imagine if both sides are miles apart, this would have died already.

That's exactly what I'm saying. Fitz is barely an average QB. He is our best option because of the offense and its weapons not because Fitz is a great QB. We have no other options and fortunately neither does Fitz!!
I'm sorry, but I don't think system gets you 31 passing tds. Most on this board predicted he would have more ints than tds, he showed up and proceed those people wrong and they can't admit it. Now I believe if Fitz played on decent teams, he would have been an average qb throughout his career.

But, my belief is that Gaileys system requires certain skill sets at certain positions, and the jets have that. I also belive Fitz is the exact type of qb the system is based on, and lay years results were proof of that. It's the definition of winning as a team. Losing our kicker who was money, and ivory never stepping on the field hurt the team in close games and put Fitz into a position to force throws that weren't there.

That said he deserves some credit for performing when called upon. I think we will be competitive for the next 2 years with him starting and he's the perfect place holder until a kid develops into our next starter.

This attitude reminds me of giants fans who constantly want to get rid of Eli, the guy wis a super bowl and they still don't give him credit, then he wins a second and they still think they don't need him.

I don't want to get rid of Fitz. I just don't want to pay an average QB that would be a back up on most teams top dollar. Fitz has never proven he can put back to back full seasons together. Pay him $6-9M this year guaranteed with escalators if he can actually win a game to get us to the playoffs. If not the 2nd year is not guaranteed.

This is how the bronco reporters see Fitz, listed at the 5th best option of 7, includes trades and fa.

Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Broncos have $1.62 million worth of salary-cap space at the moment, so Fitzpatrick’s desire to get a deal in the neighborhood where Sam Bradford and Brock Osweiler live -- $18 million per year -- is nowhere on the Broncos’ radar for a 33-year-old with one career season with at least 25 touchdown passes. That season, however, was the most recent, when Fitzpatrick threw 31 in 2015 for the New York Jets. The Jets want him back and have more financial wherewithal in terms of cap space to do it. The Broncos have already made it clear they’re not ready to over-pay -- in their minds -- for Fitzpatrick, but until he’s signed he has to be considered an option. There are plenty of questions if Fitzpatrick even would win the job over Sanchez as well.

I got out my Jets flag after reading this & started to wave it. Most Qb's with a decent team will have good seasons. nobody was ready for Fitz & the Jets last year with a two rec O. Some say he did great some say he is avg.

I give you a lot of credit for this. I hope if we sign him you are right. I like Crow with champagne

It is like the blind man that walks across the LIE at 5:00pm & says that is not dangerous......well lets see Fitz do it again.

I don't like the Odds.....It may work! Look Kennedy had the top down on his car a few times.....but it caught up to him.

Larry Jaster an average ML pitcher in 1965 had five Shutouts against the dodgers that year the Dodgers won the WS. He has their number. Lets see Eli win a super bowl against another team besides the Pats.. I am not saying he is not good but in my book no hall of fame yet. He also had the secret to beating the pats luck & a great DL. But yes he did win them.

It all comes down to we want to win now & we can vs We can't win now & lets put it all towards the future.

IMO The odds are against us Right now. But I won't say that for the season until I see the draft & what else we will do.

There's no magic bullet, I'm confident in our gm for the first time since I turned 18.
He's adding good picks to the roster while spending the money we have now to stay competitive now, without being pulled down by lengthy guaranteed deals. We are rebuilding, but it's not a fire sale.

Osweiler and Bradford got 18 mil, I think Fitz is add valuable as Bradford except he's older and therfore less longterm potential. If those guys are getting paid 18, I'm happy giving Fitz half that instead of trading for hoyer or throwing another year away watching geno.

The other thing about Fitz is he is boring. But it may be he is still growing as a QB. If those people are right we could be in the playoffs this year.

Ok tell the truth people>>>>>> Who has a Fitz jersey?????Come on tell the truth about this. Not later in the year but who has one now

We had some key injuries last year that directly led to losses. In tight games we would have won both buffalo games with folk on the field. That's the difference between 12 wins and winning the division and where we are now. (And Fitz getting a big payday)

Ivory was the center of our offense. He went into beast mode and made defenses react to defend the run, making our offense open up in the pass. When he was injured or getting 5 snaps a game, we were completely different.

I would have to go back some but I agree on Hoyer. He had the worse day I have ever seen from a QB He & Baby Mac that day put on some display. I think of the poor child that may have been at their first NFL game. May have ruined him for life.

But because teams paid 18 million for Osweiler and Bradford does not make paying 9 million a year for Fitz a good deal. So what would I pay him if Woody forced my hand OK I would give him the 9 million but I would not feel good about it. In my book he is a 5 million a year QB now if he has a second year like last give him 9

I agree but But, but, but we had CJ & let him go & did Buffalo have not have injuries also. We tend to forget at times.

** In all fairness I wanted CJ gone but I am not on the team & I am not getting paid to make the call.

As far as Big mac we need to see more.....last year he had a pocketful of cash to spend.....most of us could have spent that money.

In theory he's in the 5 range, but in reality the jets already offered him 7.5 plus incentives.
In theory Bradford is worth 7 or 8.

I agree! But that does not show well for the GM*. He is tight on cash & he is overspending.

* I do say there are times that you need to over pay.....not often but sometimes it is called for. So I will give big mac a pass on this one......at 9 not 15

Nice Dog sorry about your loss...not easy

Definitely not. It was a complete kick in the nuts. He had blood work 3 times in last month including the day of diagnosis and nothing showed up until the ultrasound. He had lymphoma and liver cancer. Was told he had 2-4 weeks and I let friends and family say goodbye. Told my vet he can't fight the cancer and I can't make the cancer go away, but I can stop the cancer from killing him. I didn't wait long to fill the void. This is Nick. I named him Nick because he was born on Christmas Day.

Injuries. ..
Understood, but having an injury prone rb and no replacement and losing your only kicker certainly hurt us, and hopefully our rb group is more reliable, and our kicker is back. Hopefully these depth signings, which I like, help us weather the injury storm.
