& for what it's worth, as i'm quite sure you/all of us know, bowles is very well regarded by parcells..
yes.
except pepper johnson was on belichick's coaching staff from 2000-2013. so i think he knows a little about him as a coach.

yep, bowles & arians are pals..He is & was like a son to BA in AZ. Look as far as a QB coach how about Chad P.
i knew he was up their a long time..yes.

i would absolutely be in favor of bringing pennington on board..
but unless something has changed, he's not interested in coaching because of the demands it would put on his family life..
Gailey shouldnt have been hired! Anyways, replacing all these OC-DC ,coaches might be tough because no job security with Bowles possibly gone after next year. The only way for Jets to get a good OC is too allow him to pick any QB he wants in Free Agency & Draft! If Jets are NOT willing to do this for the next OC, ...well then settle on a new start OC that never been there before. The DC is similar situation with Bowles being fired. Jets would also allow him to pick players in Free Agency & Draft to fit his Schemes. If this doesnt happen for these OC & DC coaches ,Jets will get as bad or worse then the trash they let go. Maybe Norv Turner as OC & Rex Ryan as DC? But BOTH would have to pick there players via free agency/Draft to fit their schemes & maybe promise the Jets HC job if Bowles gets fired.
the potential o'brien hackenberg reunion is interesting.. & of course, maccagnan & o'brien have history as well..Hopefully the Raiders pull it off and O'Brien is relieved of his duties. Making him a viable option to be the Jets OC. If you think about it, he kind of owes it to Hackenberg. Christian could have transfered while at PSU during the Paterno saga and could have left O'Brien with no QB.
Would be interesting if Mac can convince Bill to come in at a possible option as Head Coach if Bowles doesn't fare well with the team in '17. O'Brien could be bumped to head coach again.

pepper johnson had a lot of experience coaching the d-line. some guy named bill belichick switched him from LB coach to d-line coach in 2004 and kept him there for 8 years.
i personally was very happy when the jets hired him to replace dunbar (although i would have happily kept dunbar but he chose to follow rex to buffalo). johnson had a very good reputation as a coach and was seen as a future head coach. now given the talent on the d-line and the performance of the unit, it's hard to argue with his dismissal. but he was one guy on the staff i was surprised didn't work out.
I think retaining Bowles after one bad season was the right move (you can't just dump every coach after a bad year, that's partially what has gotten us into this situation to begin with).
Give him a chance to fix the issues and bring in those who he feels can help him do that.
Now his friendship and loyalty to the inept Rodgers is unacceptable and Mac should have stepped in and told Bowles "the D was hot garbage, he has to go PERIOD!"
If Bowles was really the DC then why the hell is Rodgers on the staff collecting a paycheck as the DC? If he is a YES man, then again he doesn't have the skill, talent or fortitude to man the position.
Any which way you cut or slice it, he is holding a crucially important position and cannot do the job.
As fans we are stuck with what we get, so let's just hope for the best and see how they handle the offseason.

i've said our next OC could also be our next HC but i'm guessing even bowles would be able to sniff this out..
then again, how much say do maccagnan & or bowles have in who fills the coaching vacancies anyway??
who knows with this organization..

i have no doubt bowles is going to do everything in his power to try to convince johnson he needs a veteran QB because hackenberg & or petty are either not ready or just not good QB's..I agree 100%.
Also there is an interesting dichotomy on the horizon with this team in '17:
Bowles knows its "PUT UP or BE PUT OUT" this season. Thus i can see him pulling a Mangini and vying for a veteran QB in Tony Romo, just like in '08 with Brett.
Now enter an OC such as Bill O'Brien, who could be grooming Hack until the right moment. Re-grooming him into a legit QB like his freshman year at PSU. If Bowles stinks it up and start 2-6, Mac wont have to start over at QB as he would just bump O'Brien to OC and continue to allow Hack to be guided under the right tuteledge.
I just see too many positives with O'Brien here. A guy that just wants to win no matter what. He's done so with absolutley nothing at Houston. No QB. The guy is gutsy. He benched Osweiller. By doing so, he won a second straight division title. I'am more than sure he would have started Savage vs Oakland. Though he has no other option but to play Brock.

safe bet if things do go down like that, maccagnan is not going to be thrilled with bowles, if his drafted QB's can't see the light of day.. especially if he believes his QB's can play..
this is shaping up to being as toxic as ryan & idzik.. maybe worse if maccagnan can convince johnson to hire o'brien..
No, it will go down in history with General Custer and the crews of the Titanic and the Hindenberg. But it (the CS) will go down in history with Rich Kotite.
