The missed fg, the missed extra point-Revis getting burnt-Fitz throwing off passes...

All these issues hurt but to me the point of the game that should have been taken a little more seriously was the 4rth and 1 within our 8 yard line on our second to last possesion in the 4rth quarter. Bowles should have gone for it, especially how our backs were running all over Cincys defense all day. Of course going for the easy 3 points is safer, but evidently the Bengals drove down the field and scored the winning FG with ease.

The Jets O should have gone for it and should have gone all out to score a TD alongside with the two point conversion. Dont get me wrong, i like Coach Bowles alot, but i absolutley thought that was a pussy move going for that FG on a 4rth and 1. Those are the moments where you have got to be aggressive and beat difficult teams like the Bengals. All of those previous mistakes would have been in all honesty forgiven.

Bowles has got to trust his players in those key situations if he wants to take this squad to the next level.

The problem is our OL has sucked for many years at short yardage.

This is a completely different game if we made it 14-0 after the TO in the first qtr....... I thought our Redzone play calling was atrocious in that spot and then missing the FG.... are you kidding me.... Once that happened I knew this game was gonna be a heart breaker...

Life as a Jets fan!!

I don't know.......maybe it hasn't dawned on us all, but maybe the Jets team just isn't that good? I know most posters are flabbergasted by the abuse our secondary took today, but maybe they just aren't that good? I have been looking at this team and thinking about 5 wins is their ceiling for months now. I said that based on a poor OL and I believe that will still be the end result but why is it so hard for anyone else to believe?

As I have been saying for a long time now, the Jets average beating ONE winning team per season, so losing to a 12-4 team makes sense. Maybe you should rethink your hopes and expectations to something more reasonable? We are rapidly finding out that Todd Bowles routinely does his part to lose games for the team. So maybe you ought to be a little more objective?

I have always thought there is no way Fitz can reproduce last season numbers. We could have been 8-8 last year or worse. We are probably an 8-8 team like almost every team in the league. Things go right and we can get to 10-6 or 11-5. Or we could be 6-10. Frustrating but it is what it is.

If this team had a legit franchise QB, not even an elite franchise QB, just someone like, oh say, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Matt Stafford et al., this team wins 11 Games, minimum, and is a legit Super Bowl contender.

Lets face it, its the lack of a franchise QB that is dragging us down. We all hope Fitz can duplicate what he did last year, but its highly unlikely that a career journeyman can duplicate his proverbial 'career year', thats why I didn't waste one ounce of energy in the off season clamoring for the Jets to re-sign Fitz. If they re-signed him I wasn't going to complain about it, and I didn't, but I wasn't the least bit worked up over it. I was, in a word, indifferent.

That said, I'm just glad we didn't foolishly get locked into a multi-year deal at big money, so we are free to turn the corner as early as next year ... unless Fitz surprises us and does repeat his 2015 campaign, but he's off to a bad start.

Alright a day has gone by and there is plenty to be happy about. Yes, the problems we have will plague us all season. Weak secondary is a huge problem.

Having said that,

bengals are a tough team. Have made the playoffs every year for the last few years and always carry a tough defense and solid offense. Despite playing like crap, we were right there for the win. We had the chance to get the W. Fix the little mistakes and we'll do well going forward.

Forte looked great. I thought the Oline played much better than I thought they would.

I agree 1,000 percent. This team is a 11+ win team with a decent franchise QB. Fitz is not that. He is average a best and not a franchise QB. Call me crazy and trust me, I don't care if you do but I honestly believe we could get similar stats this year out of Petty. Or Dak Prescott, if they would have drafted him. So if this was the case, then why is Fitz starting period? Ofcourse we are taking about ifs and I'm no QB guru or a team coach. So I know my opinion means absolutely nothing but it's just my take. That's all!

Can't fix Revis' age. Luckily he won't face AJG each week. Can't fix Fitz lack of quality wins. He was behind on almost every throw he made which could be the sorry arm strength or the fact that he wanted big time money and wasn't there for off season. As long as we play the Browns each week we will be fine. I love how good our DL looks, but this team is just an average team all the way around. We may waste the final two years for Forte. Only good news is maybe Revis can cover a one footed Watkins Thursday.

The most disappointing and frustrating part of this game is that everyone knew the whole key to this game was containing AJ Green. Go back and read the first few pages of this thread, its all we talked about all week, the importance of doubling AJ Green all day, on every play, and forcing someone else to beat us ... even us novices could figure that out.

AND YET, with all of that said, the SOB clips us for 12/180

IOW's we let him do exactly what we feared he would do if we didn't double him from the moment he left the bus ...

HE WRECKED THE GAME

What's even more egregious about this is that even when he was doubled he still burned us. So I ask the question in all seriousness.......Is Todd Bowles telling that are doubling a WR what their responsibilities are? Bowles is a defensive guy so that is his area of responsibility and yet the players did not seem to know how to double AJ Green and be successful in stopping him. You EXPECT that a double team actually limits the receivers production. In this case, it did NOTHING.

Now I hate to use Bill Belichick and card stacking to illustrate a point, but I'd almost guarantee when the patsies play the Bengals, BB will double team AJ Green and somehow, MIRACULOUSLY, the players will work together and actually control Green's numbers. The Jets suck at it and I think it is Todd Bowles' inability to coach them up correctly...........

Ughhhh I'm still pissed.

The only reason I can think Bowles didn't double team Green is because he was afraid to leave someone else 1 on 1.

Wait you mean that you think we should have drafted Dak Prescott? First I'm hearing of this.

I wanted Prescott,he's a much better qb in the 4th than hack in the 2nd.

I'm guessing your joking here but just incase your not. Yup, I mentioned it during the draft. I was high on Wentz, Lynch and Prescott, in that order.

Yes joking. I think this was your first post in this thread where you did not tell us again how we should have drafted him.
