OK let me start off by saying I'm not usually star struck or excited about meeting an athlete. Being from Dallas, I have had run ins with some very famous athletes. Usually Cowboys or Stars. I train and coach youth soccer players and have coached Charles Haley, Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett's kids. Met TO at a West Elm store and he is a complete douche. I told him Revis would shut his ass down. He did until late in a 34-3 blowout. About 10-12 years ago I met Joe Namath and Joe Klecko at a luncheon before a game.

In 2009, I met Mark Sanchez in Houston at a restaurant before his first game as a Jet. The Jets scored their final TD and Mark Sanchez pointed at a group of Jets fans and then did a double take and gave me thumbs up since he remembered me from the night before. I also train a kid and her uncle is Rex Ryan which I thought was cool until now...

So today one of my college athletes came to workout and she has been training with us for a year. She walks into my facility with a Jets shirt on. I said, "you’re a Jets fan". She said her dad played for the Jets. I said what’s his last name. She said Coleman and I said Marcus Coleman. She said yup and looked at me like how does someone know my dad in Dallas. I said he was one of my favorite players in late 90’s. I was like a little girl. She FaceTime'd him and I felt like a tool, but it was pretty cool to know one of my athletes' dad is one of my favorite Jets players. Especially meeting them in Dallas. She thinks its really cool that someone from Dallas loved her dad before she was even born. And now she gets to train with me. I just wanted to share my story.

I have had the opportunity to work with quite a few current NFL players from high school through college , Managed a Business owned by a former Dolphins player and spent countless nights with the 72 Dolphins and the killer B's, when I lived in Vegas I also met a ton of pro athletes , Rodman was in my place every night , ( he is nothing like his image) humble, nice guy and very generous. I was star struck once in my life, at 17 , in the Navy flying back to San Diego , I was seated next to Ali. He was very friendly and I will never forget our long conversation, but the one encounter I have had that really stands out was in Vegas. I was leaving 711 with 8 coffees and a bag of rolls and donuts and Randall Cunningham was in line , he rushed over to open the door for me , as I thanked him, I dropped my keys. He picked them up for me and I extended my finger to take them from him but he just said Nah. Where's your car. He took the bag from me and walked with me to my car, opened the door and then took the coffee from me and handed them back one I was in the car.
Not an awesome struck moment but here is an NFL QB , going out of his way to help a stranger. Just a really great guy. Just very memorable.
He came into my place one night and remembered me, we had a good conversation. He would spend the off-season in Vegas, working for his father as a block Mason to stay in shape , tossing concrete block up to the guys on the second and third floor scaffolding. Had to fight with him to let me comp his bill.

Well, Doug Marrone was a student of mine in the Bronx in the late 1970s. He was a very nice kid. As you might imagine, he was a very big kid as well.

When my son was 7, I took him to an Islanders practice on his birthday. When the players were leaving the ice, I mentioned to those who walked by me that it was my son's birthday. One of their players, Brad Lauer, gave my son his stick and said, "Happy Birthday." The goalie Kelly Hrudey, ruffled his hair and wished him a Happy Birthday. In general, I have found hockey players to be the most down to earth professional athletes.

The above stories are great. I hope that there are more to come.
