OK let me start off by saying I'm not usually star struck or excited about meeting an athlete. Being from Dallas, I have had run ins with some very famous athletes. Usually Cowboys or Stars. I train and coach youth soccer players and have coached Charles Haley, Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett's kids. Met TO at a West Elm store and he is a complete douche. I told him Revis would shut his ass down. He did until late in a 34-3 blowout. About 10-12 years ago I met Joe Namath and Joe Klecko at a luncheon before a game.
In 2009, I met Mark Sanchez in Houston at a restaurant before his first game as a Jet. The Jets scored their final TD and Mark Sanchez pointed at a group of Jets fans and then did a double take and gave me thumbs up since he remembered me from the night before. I also train a kid and her uncle is Rex Ryan which I thought was cool until now...
So today one of my college athletes came to workout and she has been training with us for a year. She walks into my facility with a Jets shirt on. I said, "you’re a Jets fan". She said her dad played for the Jets. I said what’s his last name. She said Coleman and I said Marcus Coleman. She said yup and looked at me like how does someone know my dad in Dallas. I said he was one of my favorite players in late 90’s. I was like a little girl. She FaceTime'd him and I felt like a tool, but it was pretty cool to know one of my athletes' dad is one of my favorite Jets players. Especially meeting them in Dallas. She thinks its really cool that someone from Dallas loved her dad before she was even born. And now she gets to train with me. I just wanted to share my story.
