David Harris Re-signs with Jets

I'm a little disappointed strictly because I wanted to see some more speed out of our linebackers. No doubt he can plug the holes and is definitely a warrior but our issue on defense is covering that in between area on the field (7-10 yards from the LOS). The area that Tom Brady kills us in. Harris is slow just like two of our other LB's Pace and Coples. Also, I thought he'd get a little less. Guess the price of everyone is going up. It's scary to think what Suh and Revis will get. I'd also bet Maxwell gets 10+ mill a year easy and it wouldn't surprise me if he got more.

for sure. People who thought Torrey Smith could be had for $7 mill/year are in for a wake up call in a couple days. I wont be shocked if Harvin gets $8-9 mill/year with his new team.

Teams have to spend...and will.

I expected and somewhat hoped that Harris would go and be replaced by a younger faster player.

But, I recognize that they are unlikely to be able to fill every spot with younger, faster players with high ceilings.

I think Harris remains solid and figure that this lets us concentrate our immediate gap filling efforts in other directions. So I accept it.

I like him but he was always slow and while he played better last year, we do need speed @ LB. lets see how things shake out. So far I like what they are doing...

Not worth the money. He is way to slow to do anything more than stop the run. Hopefully we draft speed or TE's will kill us like usual.

I agree, the importance of his quiet leadership and his consistent solid play makes this a smart move while Bowles finds and grooms his replacement over the next 2 years...

Resigning Harris is a good thing... Bowles was still utilizing Larry Foote at a high level, Harris is way better IMO... Harris is the Defensive leader, DD still needs direction,from Harris... His Veteran leadership with the new system & Coaches will help for an easier transition for the whole defense... and he is so UNDERVALUED by most fans, it's incredible most likely he will end his career here with similar numbers to Mo Lewis, and playing his whole career as a 3-4 ILB...

Harris' leadership isn't going to suddenly allow for him to make tackles in space. I'm not a fan of this signing. Harris is a two-down LB at this juncture. A lot of money for such a player. They need to get a good depth signing here in FA or in the draft IMO. I haven't seen Bellore resigned so they may lose him.

Great signing for 2 reasons, 1) Great locker-room leader, and it screws with Rex who just traded Kiko. Rex thought Harris was coming to Buffalo !

Yup, and it also sets a precedent that Maccagnan seems to be a very fair and generous, if deserving, negotiator for all our current/upcoming Jet FA's going forward. That only adds to keeping harmony in the locker room...

This guy is slow, slow, slow. I guess I am missing something if Bowles wants him, and Rex loved him. At least it's not another hole to fill I guess.

He's slow but I am hoping we don't use him in coverage any more.
