Something else to consider, who the heck plays special teams from the secondary pool with our high priced vets and young injured guys?
Ummm...a player has to clear waivers to go on IR? Might want to check that...pretty sure Peyton didn't have to clear waivers while on the Colts to go on IR...same for Brady when he had the knee injury...or we should have put in a claim.![]()
Trust on health? It can not be foreseen. It is all about talent. He has it or not I think he does.
Rex Ryan put Milliner out there against the Packers to cover Jordy Nelson when he barely went through a walk through during the practice week. He had just missed most of camp/preseason. He couldn't play the following week. Then, Ryan rushes him back again, and suffers a devastating injury. I get it, Idzik didn't get Ryan the cb's to run HIS system. However, Ryan knew this going into the season and he was too stubborn to adjust. He waited 8 weeks to play more cover 2 which ended up working quite well. This made me question not only Ryan as a HC, but as a supposed defensive guru(that and having Harris cover Golden Tate). A true defensive guru adjusts his system to fit the talents that he has not force players to try to execute what they aren't capable of. In the meantime, he rushed back a player who wasn't physically able to perform. He did the same in 2013 by playing Cro on one hip. Milliner will benefit from a new staff allowing him to completely recover and see what his true potential is.
The problem with giving him another year off is that you'll essentially be letting him rehab for his next team. If this was the old days when you drafted a player and he was yours in perpetuity, for as long as you wanted him, then I might see the logic in this, but we drafted this guy in the TOP 10 and still have virtually nothing to show for it, and he's not too far away from looking for his next contract, which will probably come elsewhere. Thats why I'm putting his ass out there to play if he can play. Not if he's still hurt, but if he's healthy and he can play, he's playing.
If he's healthy I'm not so sure that he shouldn't start opposite Revis. I certainly dont think Cromartie should just have that spot handed to him. If Milliner is healthy, then let him compete for that spot, may the best man win.Who would you bench to let him play? He tore his achilles tendon last year which is a serious injury. I understand Bowles loves to play dime, so I'm sure he will get some snaps, but I don't see him playing much other than that.

I'm all for competition, I just feel that Milliner is coming off a serious injury and it may be advantageous to bring him back slow. Revis and Cro are a great starting combo. I envision Milliner eventually taking snaps from Cro however I think 2016 is more realistic.
Cromartie is coming off a pro bowl season and is the most familiar with Bowles defense. If Milliner is healthy (and that is a huge if), I can't see him having a larger role than sub'g in Nickel and Dime packages. He has a lot to prove and the new CS has no connection to him, so he is going to have to earn every crumb he gets.
I am a huge Dee Milliner fan. I have to admit he is great when he is healthy but I feel the addition of Cromartie, Revis and Skrine is great for him as well. These guys can not only help and mentor Milliner but it takes pressure off of Milliner to start right away, because of his recent injury.
I have to disagree. Milliner is good when healthy. The guy can play, injuries have always set him back.

No! We just have different opinions! Milliner suffered a big time injury that may set him back for a few years. He had a rough rookie season but improved towards the end of the season. I see a good player when healthy. I look at it as a win with all of these Db's signing. Draft isn't exactly strong in CB and this allows Milliner yo heal without being rushed.
