no shit!!

again, give bowles as much of a pass as you want to but he's the HC.. not morton.. not rogers.. bowles is!!

So he gets the blame. That's fine with me. The team is 3-5, and he's the HC.

But you can't do that and not give him credit for the wins.

bowles was hired because he was to be a great enough defensive mind, to win games in an offensive driven league..

but yet, his side of the ball, (with far more high draft picks) is being carried by first time OC morton, 6' 3" 175 pound anderson & 38 year old JAG mccown..

The Falcons was nothing more than a perfect illustration, case in point of what the article says and the point I was making?

We've been talking about this since the beginning of the season. The team continues to commit penalty after penalty and the defense cannot stop the run. That is the HC that must rectify that situation. Our HC talks about it a lot and cannot motivate the players to do it on the field.

It's also our HC that allows his team to play soft, play defeated in the 4th quarter. It's our HC that is totally outclassed each and every week after the opposing HC makes adjustments and steals momentum.

I cannot possibly fathom an article illustrating EXACTLY ehat this teams issues are? It's like the NY post writer pulled out his crystal ball and saw this coming?

Bowles MUST go and yet after all of these illustrations, there are still posters that downright REFUSE to acknowledge the truth. They are posters that clearly like to argue for the sake of arguing? They are posters that will clearly bite off their noses just to spite their faces.

Oh, I have no doubt many Jets fans will be more patient with Morton than they will with Bowles or Rodgers.

OK, so they get rid of Bowles. That's only half the issue.

Who do you hire? Who is available who will definitely be a step up from him?

you keep talking about bowles not getting credit this season..

what, do you want to split the credit with what morton's done with limited talent on offense?? i certainly don't..

hell, bowles makes rex ryan look like bill walsh by comparison..

i know you didn't ask me but here's my take..

you don't keep a lousy HC because you're afraid you can't find one who's better..

you trust your GM to find the right guy..

if you don't trust your GM enough to pull that off, you need a new GM as well as a HC..

never understood the bolded, BTW.. if we as fans on a football forum, can't rattle off potential HCs names, then what?? none exist??

I am in no way a Bowles apologist but he has this team playing it's ass off. A few of the penalties lately have been bogus, some have been because of hustle and then some are just dumb or a guy has been physically beaten.
McCown for how well he has played,i believe, has left some yards out on the feild. Missing(not seeing) open receivers down field, taking of sacks while in field goal range, those type of mistakes. I do believe he is the best option at QB.
This team was said to be devoid of talent this year and was not even supposed to be able to compete.Yes, they are 3-5 but could very well be 5-3 if not 6-2.
This team is young and has some talent, they are fighting, keeping things close but dumb penalties and mistakes are costing them.
Next off season, with a full wallet, some more talent can be brought in. A top flight corner, O Line, maybe an OLB that can actually get to the QB.
The Jets still do not have a QB on the roster for the long haul to be competitive/playoff bound. We will see what they can do in the draft or who might be available in free agency.
Even though the loses hurt and they are actually beating themselves right now moreso than the other team is, i think they may be ahead of schedule a little bit on this rebuild they are doing.
They should've/could've beaten the last two superbowl participants.
I'm enjoying this year a lot more than i thought i would.

This is where I am. You are what your record says you are, but ultimately, this team has played better than I thought it was capable of playing, and that reflects well on both the GM who assembled the roster and the coaches who have gotten the team to play above expectations. There is still work to be done, but I wouldn't pull the plug on either the GM or the coaching staff right now, when the build appears to be on, or even ahead of, schedule. I don't understand why some are so intent on viewing everything through a "fire Bowles" lens, aside from being more concerned about being right than about what is best for the team.

I don't know if he is a lousy coach. I think he had a good first season, a poor second season, and this season he has gotten the team to exceed expectations. To me, that is a HC who has yet to be proven to be either good or lousy.

well, woody's brother doesn't have the luxury of sitting on the fence..

he can extend bowles.. he can fire bowles.. or he can let bowles coach as a lame duck in '18..

oh, & morton's offense has exceeded expectations.. i know for whatever reason you like to have bowles piggyback off of that, i don't..

why not let him piggyback off of whatever the hell kacy & the defense is doing??

Weather Bowles has exceeded expectations this year or not, the fact is he currently has a losing record as a HC and if this trend continues he will be in trouble. Just a couple years ago the complaints were that his team was too old with Fitz, Harris and Mangold. Now the excuses are that his team is too young and therefore needs time to develop. Well, Eventually the excuses for Bowles will come to an end.

Bowles need to learn to work with what he has starting now.

And in 2015, the excuse was the schedule was too easy, so he didn't get any credit for the team going 10-6.

Yea, and we all know what happened in the final game....choke city. I guess the schedule wasn't easy enough.

I give Bowles credit for going 10-6, but Todd also gets "credit" for that last game.

First of all, I would not be swayed not to make a coaching change just because I may not be able to find someone better. That's ridiculous. I only mention making a coaching change because any viable candidate would be better than Toilet I believe.

But for the record, I would let Mac do his job. I would let him bring in a guy he truly believes in. I would only require that he at least interviews Mike Westhoff. IMO, he's a great candidate and a guy I would have hired long before Toilet.

After starting the season 5-5, they had six must-win games. They went 5-1 in those games.

Look, I have on several occasions bashed decisions Bowles has made. I thought how he used Sheldon last year was awful. I thought one of the young QBs should be playing this year. I have had issues with him at times in terms of how flat the team was fairly often last year.

On the whole, though, just because I have disagreed with him at times doesn't mean I think he should be fired. And I am far more willing to criticize Bowles than some of his haters here are willing to give him any praise for anything.
