What we know?
Jets have their QB & Starting Running Back for next season...
Jets have their true Number 1 receiver in Elijah Moore...
Jets have no tight end, that has to be a priority...
Jets have hope on the Offensive Line, starting with AVT...
Jets have a core defensive line led by Q & JFM...
Jets have two linebackers that are considered a top flight tandem CJ & Quincy...
Jets have a young corner trio, that will continue to grow and improve...
Jets have a mixed bag of safeties with potential...
Jets have a specialist coaching the special teams...
Jets have an in booth offensive coordinator that final showed he belongs...
Jets have a fan base upset with the idea that the defensive coordinator failed at his job...
In reality the Jets through their rookie season, from the skill players to the coaching staff were under siege from a fanbase that is impatient to see the progress because they have been waiting for generations hoping this organization would get a clue... Robert Saleh took on a job that was not glamorous but needed to be done... Came to gang green to help revamp, rebuild from the ground up a roster that had been in shambles for the best couple decades... Drafted a quarterback, found a day three starting running back and found a true not traditional size number one receiver... Found two corners on day 3 that became fan favorites as starter with potential... Claimed a former third round pick who seemed to be washed up and tossed out with the garbage and who reinvigorated his career along side his brother who is one of the anchors on our defensive line...
Special Teams is still special, no consistency at the place kicker position, as the team ran through a handful of players this season trying to find one and might of found one, but if they feel he is not long term answer the draft would be the way to go...
Free agency 2022 will be where the team will be looking to add young talent coming off their rookie contracts that CHOOSE to sign with the Jets... Players that buy in on what the NEW New York Jets are selling form coaches to players... Expectations on draft is one thing but the real resolve is who they sign to fill needs on the roster which will make the draft more of a luxury design then needing to find players to fill holes on the roster... We know Joe Douglas will draft in the trenches to build inside out... So free agency starts but will we keep some of our own before that day happens?
Design of the roster speaks for itself but some want the flashy signing instead of the meat and potato filling because it is not flashy does not mean it won't improve the team...
Long term situations have been answered at RB, WR, LG, DT, DL, CB1, CB2, NB and possibly SS... Yes Jason Pinnock looked good but did he flash or can he take the next step... Will they still address this position come free agency or the draft? We will see... Reason I did not list QB as long term situation solved is only he can continue to prove right or wrong by developing each week, each year and prove that he is the guy...
Some of our home grown (previous draft picks) might be moving on this off season but as much as they are fan favorites they have either played their way off the roster or their talents no longer fit what this team is doing... Will be interesting to see who gets that new contract and who is left to walk in free agency...
