What we know?

Jets have their QB & Starting Running Back for next season...
Jets have their true Number 1 receiver in Elijah Moore...
Jets have no tight end, that has to be a priority...
Jets have hope on the Offensive Line, starting with AVT...

Jets have a core defensive line led by Q & JFM...
Jets have two linebackers that are considered a top flight tandem CJ & Quincy...
Jets have a young corner trio, that will continue to grow and improve...
Jets have a mixed bag of safeties with potential...

Jets have a specialist coaching the special teams...
Jets have an in booth offensive coordinator that final showed he belongs...
Jets have a fan base upset with the idea that the defensive coordinator failed at his job...

In reality the Jets through their rookie season, from the skill players to the coaching staff were under siege from a fanbase that is impatient to see the progress because they have been waiting for generations hoping this organization would get a clue... Robert Saleh took on a job that was not glamorous but needed to be done... Came to gang green to help revamp, rebuild from the ground up a roster that had been in shambles for the best couple decades... Drafted a quarterback, found a day three starting running back and found a true not traditional size number one receiver... Found two corners on day 3 that became fan favorites as starter with potential... Claimed a former third round pick who seemed to be washed up and tossed out with the garbage and who reinvigorated his career along side his brother who is one of the anchors on our defensive line...

Special Teams is still special, no consistency at the place kicker position, as the team ran through a handful of players this season trying to find one and might of found one, but if they feel he is not long term answer the draft would be the way to go...

Free agency 2022 will be where the team will be looking to add young talent coming off their rookie contracts that CHOOSE to sign with the Jets... Players that buy in on what the NEW New York Jets are selling form coaches to players... Expectations on draft is one thing but the real resolve is who they sign to fill needs on the roster which will make the draft more of a luxury design then needing to find players to fill holes on the roster... We know Joe Douglas will draft in the trenches to build inside out... So free agency starts but will we keep some of our own before that day happens?

Design of the roster speaks for itself but some want the flashy signing instead of the meat and potato filling because it is not flashy does not mean it won't improve the team...

Long term situations have been answered at RB, WR, LG, DT, DL, CB1, CB2, NB and possibly SS... Yes Jason Pinnock looked good but did he flash or can he take the next step... Will they still address this position come free agency or the draft? We will see... Reason I did not list QB as long term situation solved is only he can continue to prove right or wrong by developing each week, each year and prove that he is the guy...

Some of our home grown (previous draft picks) might be moving on this off season but as much as they are fan favorites they have either played their way off the roster or their talents no longer fit what this team is doing... Will be interesting to see who gets that new contract and who is left to walk in free agency...

You make it sound like this team doesn't have many needs.
No this team has plethora of needs but it is not a dark as it looks... Corey Davis & Denzel Mims under contract but to me they are just receivers not number two, number three both are heading into off season seeking to find their roles... So the team may need to replace Braxton Berrios but what the team does not need is to find that number one guy because we already found him...

Stated tight end is a priority because even though Trevon Wesco is under contract the team has really no potential at this position... Looking at the roster there are some holes but some potential... At safety we all agree Ashtyn Davis showed up late in the season with potential but so did Jason Pinnock but was this flash or was this them progressing? Elijah Riley is a solid role player but from these three did any of them prove they have taken over the starting role?

At corner tell me Brandin Echols, Michael Carter II and Bryce Hall did not cement themselves as the starting trio? At linebacker both CJ & Quincy as a tandem racked up 289 tackles being dominate in that feat but when it comes to the other backer positions even though we drafted two safeties and converted them to linebacker because of injuries this position is in question...

Defensive line we know Q. & JFM produced... We hope that Carl Lawson comes back and dominates but there is no guarantee... We hope that Bryce Huff continues to develop but again there is no guarantee that he fits the bill... Outside those two there is need for more on the defensive line...

So no this team has many NEEDs, it depends on how they solve the holes on the roster...

There are two type of Jet fans on this forum and included in both types are a mixture of younger fans and the old guard. One type see what this new regime is attempting and is willing to sit back and see where it leads . The other type is so damaged by the past failures of this franchise they don’t expect anything but abject failure and just sit around waiting for the bottom to fall out of the boat .
Neither side has any right to belittle the other but one thing is clear . There’s something happening around the Jets organization that has never been attempted before and it requires patience. Along the way there will probably be some miss steps, but this fan in particular is willing to ride it out . After all, what the frill do l have to lose ?

Keep building through the draft. Get me some Studs on both sides of the Line with the 1st 4 picks. 2 edge guys and 2 OL should be the priority. TE next. After that go nuts but the Lines have to addressed. Draft them young and let them grow together.
In FA sign high character guys who have a nonstop motor on the field.

I don't see Moore as a #1 WR. So we need a #1 WR. Corey Davis still has not proven he is a #2, more of a #3. We will see this year. Still would like to add another WR. CJ may be here 1 more year, meaning 2 more LB's are needed. Hopefully FA safety can be added in FA. KIcker also would be nice. Offensive line needs C, RG, RT. and we need a TE. A running mate for Carter would also help. Could use and Edge rusher or 2. I'm also starting to doubt if we re-sign Berrios. Of course this won't happen overnight or this year alone.

The trouble with most Jet fans is they believe that you can only build a championship team with 1st round studs . I happened to think it’s more about drafting players that fit what you’re doing even if said player isn’t ranked as highly by the experts . Some players even though their value is higher just don’t fit what you do so why take them .

the idea of the value of the player in the offense is what makes him that guy, yes he didn't play a full season but when he was on the field he was the go to guy which makes him that guy...

they need to compliment him with someone that will take the pressure off while creating opportunities for others to get involved with the offense not to be wide open and drop easy catches, like #84 did repeatedly... If there was a viable possession tight end to help out things could of been totally different...

Here’s all you need to know about what’s happening with our Jets . In the 1st year of their program with a bunch of kids drafted early and late in the draft prior to the season, our Jets defeated one of the teams playing in the Super Bowl this year and had the winner of the Previous Super Bowl beat before a bone head decision cost them the game .
Trust the process .

OTOH we have one of the most star-free rosters in the NFL, as evidenced by our annual HOF and Pro Bowl entrants. Even the one guy who was selected as a Pro Bowl alternate may be on his way. The closest we have had in recent years to a player who worries opposing coaches is Revis (at his peak).

What about that trouble making safety we traded away ?

You make it sound like this team doesn't have many needs.

when you point out the bright spots, you start seeing that they are on all levels of positions groups.

on D... bright spots at all 3 levels; line, LB's, and DB's.
on O...bright spots at QB, WR, RB, Line.

as @gmf1369 said, we have a plethora of needs, but for the upcoming season, not as many as most think to make us very competitive.
"and" many of the plethora of needed players are at spots that can be filled relatively easily, and not expensively.

He worried OUR coaches.

But you have to have some sympathy with a guy who always played on contending teams and then faces ten years with the Jets. We're never going to be able to keep the players to have a successful franchise until we have kept the players to have a successful franchise.

I was a big fan of #33 because I look for INTs from my FS but with my SS I look for tackling machines and QB hunters. And I loved Jamal Adams as our SS because of that.

But it was impossible for us to not get excited over two 1st round picks in return for a SS. So far we've utilized Jamal Adams on Alijah Vera-Tucker and can't wait to see who we utilize pick #10 on.
I didn’t have an issue with Jamal Adams because I don’t really get into players contract situations . Player wants to get paid so be it but if we don’t pay him or if we do pay him I don’t feel any different about the player .
It’s not my money and after all it’s really a business to most of these kids .
