Fitzpatrick Thread: Latest Update - Jets concerns growing over Ryan Fitzpatrick's inability to throw

AGREED. I still really think Fitz played rather well against the Eagles. Two of the 3 picks he threw were just great plays by the defense aided by bad play of the offense. People are expecting things from Ryan Fitzpatrick that he isn't capable of doing. The minute people start to understand Ryan Fitzpatrick and what he is, they'll understand he did his part in the Eagles game. Ryan Fitzpatrick is at best a good second string player. He is NOT a starting QB. He's never had a winning record as a starter. If he does it this season? I'll be very happy, but he still isn't a guy that's going to take a team to the SB.

If you understand Ryan Fitzpatrick, what he can and can't do, then you know he played well last Sunday. The rest of the team let him down.

Pretty much agree. Fitz , at best, is a borderline starter.

Thing is, right now, he is by far the best option the Jets have.

Hopefully, the flash we saw from Petty in the second pre-season game, was a harbinger for his arrival next season. Fitz would be a great back up/mentor for a talented young QB.

All we can do at this point is hope that Petty can take a step forward, and that the team, through bone headed plays, doesn't put Fitz in to many 17 point deficit situations. He's just not built for big come backs.

Fitzy doesn't gun the ball in those mid range 15-20 yd passes , but is most accurate with the throws.
In the deep throws he threw on Sunday, no one was open or getting separation but I still like the throws. They need to continue that on offense. Players need to make plays, I.E. Marshall on the pass that went threw has hands. Yea, the ending was disappointing but it's not all on Fitz .

exactly and that is why those are his toughest throws to make because the corners can easily jump the routes and intercept them.

His long ball I will never say he doesn't have though because i saw with my own eyes watching those past texan and bills games.

he played well enough to win but alot of his throws and not the long balls just the reg throws he was def off last sunday.

Absolutely nothing has changed, the ability for a receiver to free himself from coverage is THE main ability of a receiver to catch footballs in this league. Edelman is a master at getting free, Amendola is also, Welker and Woodhead also had that ability.
Gronkowski is real tall, but his ability to break free of coverage down the seams is still his biggest asset. Get receivers that can do that and quarterbacks that can do that, period!!!!!
Down the seams and down the sidelines still gets you down the field faster than any other location.
Sorry for having to quote the Pats, but they're pretty good at this drill.

But that hasn't been a problem at all for him so far this year.
Don't think he has one pick on an out yet. Unless you count Marshall's?
