All of our win now signings are a waste of money if we don't have a capable qb. Kap is younger cheaper, fresh legs, higher ceiling.
Fitz had an amazing rapport with this offense, that can't be overlooked, but he is still a limited talent in a great position. Let's be honest though, even he could play better than manning last year.
But, if he wants 18 mil, the Broncos aren't paying him. Osweiler was the better choice if you're willing to pay that much. Kap is12 mill plus a pick.

Not even close to fair considering what other starters are getting and haven't produced like Fitz.
The market has changed drastically because of the Eagles contract to Bradford.... Front Office guys everywhere are cursing the Eagles out on the reg right now....
An injury prone barely better than average QB getting 18 Mill a year... Followed by a a 7 game starter that played OK gettting 17-18 mill a year.... says 7 mill for Fitz is an insult.
Osweiler - 8 starts 61.8 Comp % 1967yds 10 Tds 6 Ints = 17.5 mill a year
Bradford - 14 Starts 65 Comp % 3725yds 19TDs 14 Ints = 18 mill a year
Fitzpatrick - 16 starts 59.6 Comp % 3905 yds 31 TD's 15 Ints = Not 7 mill a year.. come on
Age can be taken into account and Fitz in this system but they guy has earned at least 14Mill a year.... IMHO
He produced for part of one season. Breaking the bank on this guy is stupid. I can find any guy in the league to throw 3 INT's in a quarter in a game that meant the playoffs.
I wouldn't break the bank for him either..... Just showing the market sets his value and it's not 7 Million a year... Closer to 13/14 mill....

i've been saying all along that a deal that's fair for both sides should be the goal..
now it looks like our main competition (denver) was never really interested at all.. much like an NFL season, things can change. very quickly in FA..
i believe the jets should still operate in good faith with fitzpatrick & not low ball the hell out of him just because it seems like they can at the moment.. i want us to bring back a fitzpatrick feeling good about returning to the jets, not one that feels like he got bent over.....
an incentive based contract that realistically gives fitzpatrick a chance to pocket between 19-20+ million over the next 2 year's.. as in a contract more in the neighborhood of a guy "the light" finally turned on for..
The market is the Jets and what they are willing to pay.
Yet with all those stats there isn't a team out there sniffing at Fitzpatrick. His agent wanted to go play the FA market,to get teams into bidding war, like for Oliver. Hasn't happened, the Jets took the chance now they shouldn't have to bid higher against themselves for Fitz to feel better about himself.
I totally agree... No reason to bid against ourselves but that doesn't mean Fitz doesn't deserves more than 7 Million per year, he does.... Though with the way things look he might have bid himself down to that if the Broncos don't take a run at him

I agree I can't believe how many jet fans are in love with fitz. Yes we could win with him but I like better odds with a better qb. this is what we pay big mac for....He needs to get us a qb....not a body
I think Fitzs agent way over estimated his value because he represents Bradford and osweiler.
But, the jets offer is on the table. If you're Fitz why not see if you can be in the right place at the right time. If Denver doesn't sign him in desperation go back to the money on the table. Now the 49ers know Elway is desperate.

Yes, I would match 12 per structured something like 9/6/12 plus 9 bonus up front. The third year never happens obv., if you want him you extend him during year 2.
Yes for one year guaranteed only. We need Fitz for one more year until backups develop.
