See, I think he is good enough. I don't think he could carry a team there, but I think he's one of those guys who, if he was with the right team, could finish the job without blowing it. It's still a major long shot, because I don't think we are that kind of team. I'm not very knowledgeable about the salary cap or our payroll. I'll assume paying him what he wants would be detrimental in some way, or else I think they would just sign him. If its to save money for Wilkerson, my gut tells me that he's not going to resign here, as he seems as outwardly unhappy here as any player I've ever seen since Derek Bell instituted Operation Shutdown.
But, yea, ultimately, I want a real, legit franchise QB, and finishing between 7-9 and 9-7 really doesn't help us get one. Sometimes, I feel like we'd be better off going 0-16 every year and getting the first overall pick until we find THE guy. But then I think about how crappy watching that would be.
