Free agency, who you want???

The first question is who of our free agents do we want to keep? It looked like we were prepared to let them test the market and then decide whether to match the offer, but nfl.com are reporting that Sherwood has signed a three year $45 mill contract, which makes sense as there aren't many alternatives about.

I would not be upset at all if the Jets gave Justin Fields a two year prove it type deal. Let’s says a two year $15-20M (MAX) a year type deal. That shouldn’t the cap to much and if he doesn’t turn out to be anything worth talking about, he’s gone in two years.

They can draft a QB in the later rounds and let the rookie, Fields and T. Taylor fight it out for the starting job. Don’t know what going on with Jordan Travis but he can also be apart of the competition mix, if he’s healthy and still a Jets by training camp.

It's not my money so I don't care how Woody spends it, but if it was my money I wouldn't waste it on a lot of the players the Jets like to waste it on. Fields is one of those players, but if he came to the Jets I would root for him to figure it out. Maybe we can have someone else's Geno Smith or Sam Darnold.

I will say this if Fields chooses the Jets over Pittsburgh he should have his head examined since they now have Pickens and DK.

Davante Adams joined the Rams

The Lions are signing CB D.J. Reed to a three-year, $48 million deal, per source.

Sherwood retained in new regime’s first big move

Former RT Morgan Moses is signing a 3 year, $24 million deal worth up to $28.5 million with the Pats

Anything else goin on ?

Yeah. Jets sign Fields to two-year 40 mill contract ! I suppose the good news for you is the Steelers' gig is still open for Errin' Rodgers.

So the Patriots have given a three year deal to a right tackle who has recently had trouble staying fit. But that leaves us with a hole in that position. The obvious move would be to bid for Wills, otherwise we are going to be committed to taking a right tackle high in the draft.

I think he chose the Jets because he wanted a fresh start and he wants to play with Garrett Wilson again. Plus, I believe he remembers and is definitely feeling a certain type of way about what Pittsburgh did to him last year, by benching him when he was playing halfway decent. Plus they never allowed him to get back on the field as the full-time QB when Russell Wilson started playing horribly.

Can’t blame him for that!

Like he said at time of benching if he had played better he wouldn't have been benched. I don't hate the move because I never thought the Jets would win 5 games with Tyrod. Fields can move and stays healthy. I remember him getting his crushed in semifinal a few years ago and threw 6 TD's so I know he can take a hit. I think there is no pressure to be the savior for Fields.

I don’t agree with that first statement. He did say if he played better he would’ve have been benched but what was most important at that point was that they were winning. No his stats weren’t all gaudy but he did his part to help the team win. They should never benched him. I do agree with the rest of your post. WE FINALLY AGREE ON SOMETHING, Amazing!

Jets sign CB Brandon Stephens from Ravens.
I have reservations about this signing. If you look at his stats..........he's not terrible, but he isn't great either. The saving grace, for me, is that Glenn was an outstanding corner in his time and he is considered pretty good at getting the best out of them. Glenn has seen his tape and his stats so apparently, especially considering the contract, he thinks he can do that with Stevens. I hope so.

Good point, especially about the chance to rejoin Garrett Wilson.

On the subject of who in free agency I want.....................I believe that the Jets would be wise to snatch Trent Brown, RT, away from the Bengals. He still available, as far as I know, and a clear upgrade over Morgan Moses who left to join the Pats.
