I have posted consistently that this is a5 year rebuild, and I like the pieces we have. I thought hack was a premature qb grab, but I'm indifferent to it.
We have over 15 guys on ir, Revis sucks. That means our defense consists of 3 interior linemen, no edge rushers, a rookie lb core, and no secondary.
Our offense was decimated by injury, and was built to succeed with health being the caveat.
Hack is a redshirt investment and could be the real deal in 12 months or so, Darron Lee fought injury and had become an every down player, Burris may be a starter next year and is the best cb this year. Jenkins has developed into a starting lb, shell allowed zero qb pressures. Mac's picks are contributing, idziks are out of football.
We are building a core of young starters, not every player will pan out. But, we were severely lacking depth, and that takes years to rebuild. In the meantime, I think another good draft, and some core fa pickups will have us in good shape next season, then it's just a matter of getting a franchise qb, which every team is searching for.
On defense, if we could swap Richardson for an edge rusher or a second rounder who becomes an o line pick, that's great. The cb in Buffalo is a fa and a great option at cb1, with Burris at cb2, and skrine at slot. Draft peppers at cb, safety hybrid, and suddenly our d is much improved with balance.
On offense, we need a2nd round o line starter, and to cut Mangold salary for one more year. We need a good wr fa, and to keep searching at qb. I like the kids on the line, Forte and Powell can hold the fort, Jenkins is good enough, b Marshall,Decker,enunwa, with afa wr, and a developing peake/anderson are only going to better next year.
