I agree. The defense was going to carry us no matter who started at QB. Fitz played well last season. Two positives are that Fitz has played in Gailey's offense and he has over 4 weeks until game 1 to develop chemistry with his WR's.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is also injury prone and they need another Vet quick while preseason is available to learn the Offense. Vick is familiar with the spread offense and is still agile enough to pick up a few yards in that system. He has a rocket for an arm and can challenge opponents deep. I'd rather have Vick backing up Fitz than Rex Grossman (tryout Friday). Vick is also friends with many of the present Jet players.

So we miss the playoffs AND miss out on all of the TOP QB Prospects in the 2016 draft?
Sometimes the worst thing you can be in sports is mediocre.
Its good to be good, that requires no explanation, but I contend its better to be bad, as in GOD AWFUL, then it is to be mediocre. Due the the structure of the draft and the importance of a franchise QB, you can go from GOD AWFUL to a perennial contender in one off season, with one draft pick, if its a franchise QB.
However mediocrity is a cycle thats difficult to escape. You can get caught in that cycle for what seems like an eternity. You can watch every team that was beneath you, surpass you, while you spin your wheels and remain mediocre in perpetuity.
Maybe I'm just so disgusted with Sheldon and now Geno that I'm talking crazy, essentially suggesting we tank the season before the first preseason game has been played, but thats how defeated I feel from all of this nonsense, culminating in todays insanity, that I just want to say F IT and let Jamarcus Russell go 0-16 so we can have first dibs on the best of a terrific crop of QB's in the 2016 draft.

The only thing that sucks about this is that we're going to hear about this all season. Every game, every announcer, regardless of who's playing QB, will feel the need to explain this over and over and over again. It's going to get old real quick, and it's going to go on all season.
I think we already did, I'm just suggesting we sign and start JaMarcus Russell and make it official.

Unfortunately I don't see this incident leading to a dynasty, but if we play well behind Fitz I'll still take it . . .
Our team has many upgrades this year and Fitzpatrick still has a month to kick it up a notch. Our Defense is better and our WR core is much better. If we get Sheldon Richardson back this season it will be a plus. Devin Smith should be ready early Sept. Heck Geno could be ready before Oct. I wouldn't give up on the team before it starts.
The Pats have more injuries than us and could be starting a rookie QB. The Bills don't have a QB so it's a guess as to how we look at our early Bye which just might be a blessing this year.
