Geno Smith worked out with Tom House (Brady's personal QB coach) during offseason

It makes no difference for Geno. The guy is terrible and no amount of coaching is ever gong to make the kid a franchise QB. That thought has long ago sailed. The most this guy can hope for in NY is to possibly win the starting competition only because he's facing another terrible QB. After this season, his goose is cooked. He'll get cut I am sure.
You sure huh, OK!

I couldn't agree more. It's excuse upon excuse with this guy.
-No Talent around him
-Offensive coordinator
-Its gotta be Rex
-It's the O-Line
-He's in the wrong system
-It's only year three

Yet there are no responses for what is evident:

-He crumbles under pressure
-He isn't a team leader whatsoever; missing team meetings
-he is as inconsistent as they come
-flips his own fans the bird at Metlife
-He isn't accountable rather more delusional: "Flashes of a probowler"... He can be "elite"
-His teammates preferred Vick and were stunned when Geno was placed back into the starting role

I feel this training camp, it will answer many questions on how this new regime views Geno. Unless, they've already decided his fate. Especially if the Jets trade up to draft Marcus Mariota.

Howard David said this morning Jets want to see what they have in Geno with some actual talent around him. He stated its hard to evaluate Geno Smith with a banged up Decker facing #1 CBs despite being a #2 WR and a group of nobodies outside of him. He said with Marshall, Decker, Kerley, and a young upcoming TE in Amaro, look for the Jets to wait and see what they have in Geno over moving up for Mariota or Winston.

Great post

Agree 1000%

I don't think MacBowles are buying the panaply of excuses, either. That is why they traded for Fitzpatrick and will add another QB in the draft.

They see what Geno's lack of ability did to the tenure of Rex, Idzik and Mornhinweg.

They aren't ready to go down Geno Street to their own oblivion

How about this far a answer, Sanchez was really no better with better teams but everyone or at least it seemed stuck by him for 4-5 years. Listen, I'm tired of fighting this battle. I want the best for this team as everyone else does. I feel Geno has a chance to be that under better circumstances this year and two years of NFL experience.

If I'm wrong then I'm wrong. We'll see what the new regime thinks of him come draft day if they draft Winston or Mariota. However they get them we'll know then that Geno is done that day as a NYJ. If they draft anyone else we'll know Geno's days are numbered. Overall, there is still OTAs, training camp and pre-season for him to show if he has improved and is ready to go. If he is then he is and whomever wants him gone for whatever reason will have to deal with it. If he ain't, then you all get what you want and that's that.

Wow, I thought according to others that Geno was done as a Jet and had no chance of proving anything in Metlife. Interesting!

I agree with David..ESPECIALLY if they go White or cooper first pick..then all cards will be on the table....

trus Geno mightily struggles at times....and maybe it is all mental....because he has all the tools of Russell Wilson..Aaron Rodgers etc.....but with a cpl more guys to create bigger windows..maybe it willl help

I can't see it either. Bowles and Mac will go into this season feeling good about their QB situation. If Geno show cases that he is worthy of even being a #2 , he'll stick around. Yet if he displays the same ol loveable Geno we've seen of him the past two turnover filled season, then he'll get cut just like Stephen Hill did last season under a new regime.

-This will be a full out open competition. Four QB's heading into battle. Will be very interesting to see how this plays out.

That is unless the Jets make a hard push for Philip Rivers, which would put us as immediate Superbowl contenders.

Yes, I am sure.
In fact being that your so sure, why don't you get into this bet sg3 and I have. Anyone else who feels Geno will fall on his face this year can join in also. Just a friendly bet per say, no money involved or anything like that. Simple, Geno steps up this year and plays well then you guys admit Geno has the tools and can or is our QB and get off his back. If Geno flops and Fitz replaces him and plays well, I admit I was wrong and you guys were right. This keeps the back and forth to a minimum or shuts it down period really. I'm worn out with all this back and forth BS really.

I am of the belief Geno is not the long term answer at QB but would not want to bet against his chances of becoming that. I don't know why people would bet either way.

He will be one of three or four QBs competing for that honor. I wish them all the best and let the best man win and hope he is the long term answer and not just a short term plugin.

DITTO..I dont understand the down right hatred for Geno from some posters,,,let all the guys play out and for better or worse he is part of the mix....,,,although hes been below average....seems an unintellecual response to it looking at everything

With all due respect brother,
So many are forcefully trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, Geno cannot be mentioned with the likes of Rodgers, Wilson or any legit QB by no means. He's shown nothing worth of their well respective brilliance.
Especially if it's mental, these other guys get it. Geno just doesn't.

I'am glad Geno is working his ass off, I really am and hope he proves me and all of the Jets/NFL fans wrong who have given up on him. But what we've seen of him these past two seasons is what he is.
A mediocre, strong, big arm below average QB.

Rodgers had to sit but when he stepped on the field, its as if he was a rookie as he wasn't ever placed throught the trials of true bullets flying. He crushed it.

Wilson's brain was above and beyond.

Geno, stepping out of bounds in the end zone during a pre season game versus the Giants was a prelude of what Geno would turn out to be. Completely clueless.

The three interceptions in one quarter versus Buffalo at Metlife with no pressure around him, had nothing to do with talent he had in the huddle.

Geno can train with House, he can throw spirals to Marshall in the off season all he wants and try to convince Jets nation he's changed. But it's all the same BS from last year as well.
We will all know if that is fact or if he's still the same QB he will always be at the pro level. I honestly feel its the latter.

Agree 1000%. Great post

Fortunately Mac already acquired Fitzpatrick to hold the fort and right the ship until he drafts a QB who can develop and play effectively at the NFL level. Clearly he and Bowles are not blind and have seen all that Geno Smith CAN'T do in the NFL (other than get Head Coaches, GMs and OCs fired which he clearly CAN do)

Fortunately two football savvy guys with 20 20 vision are on the scene and making the decisions and fortunately they see that keeping Geno Smith around to destroy their careers too is not the right answer.

Get him out of here

OK, I'm done with the personal battles of people knowing sh%t like they can tell the future. This is Geno's battle and not mine so we'll see if your right and so sure real soon.

Yes we will and to whatever result for the betterment of the team.

Sure. I'll get in on this bet. I have no doubt in my mind that geno is pure garbage. If I am wrong, you can certainly bring these very quotes I am making into my crow eating sentence.

But unfortunately for you it's never going to happen. If we had seen ANYTHING to make you think this guy can learn and adjust and get better, then I would be a little less sure of myself. But Geno has shown nothing, absolute zippo. Hell, even Mark Sanchez looked great with a star studded cast surrounding him at times. But I am certain that even with a pro bowl lineup surrounding Geno he will still fall on his face.

My man, its a deal then. You and sg3 are so sure Geno will fall on his face and I am sure he will rise to the accusation this year and beyond. We'll see who's eating crow at the end of the year. Nothing wrong with a friendly Jetsnationfan bet to keep the juices flowing. One last thing, If you want to say Sanchez looked great with a star studded line up every now and then your making my argument for me without even knowing it.

Sanchez was all out garbage year one and the team carried him to the playoffs. He did look good on 2-3 games that I can remember at most and in the playoffs but he was horrific for majority of the year. Second year he was abit better and fooled everyone into thinking he could improve but flopped dead on his face in year three pretty much. Year four he was even worse. Speaking of year two, he was better then year one but that star studded cast carried him that year also.

Key word is star studded cast years one and two and Sanchez still struggled MAJOR. Geno has shown flashes and played very well in a few games both years with horrid teams. The teams he had as opposed to Sanchez is no comparison and he still had some good games. Your telling me with this roster he has now, plus the coaching and management he can't improve? Ok, we'll see and it's a bet! J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets

like i said if anyone will make geno a decent QB out of geno it will be gailey, but as long as fitzpatrick can still throw the ball he wins easily.

In college you need to be athletic to win

In the NFL you need to be athletic and have brains

guess which one geno doesn't have?
