Lets begin I am not nor affiliated with media or the team just a fan with an assumption from all reports and whispers through social media... I believe that Todd Bowles is the right choice as Head Coach of the New York Jets... I am interested in seeing former Head of Scouting with the Houston Texans can accomplish as the General Manager with our beloved team...
Looking at the roster right now, have to be intrigued with all the young talent stacked throughout and pleased with the development of other said Jets players from previous regimes... There are some questionable moves that will take place that fans will be at ends about but will be needed for this regime to continue to build and progress overall...
As much as I was for Darrelle Revis when we drafted him, and watched how he hung strung the front office to get his money it was good times... He is and will be one of the best draft selections the Jets ever made, yet they also will be known as the organization that traded him away, then he was released and signed with our division foe the New England Patriots... What bothers me the most is he won a Super Bowl with them, and then we paid him to come back here... Kind of a slap in our faces... This year was his fall from grace and for the best of this team is to send him packing... No position change, no renegotiation of his current deal... Eat the dead loss and move on...
There are five veterans on this team from previous regimes that will be the sole discussion on if they fit what we are currently attempting to build with this regime of Maccagnan and Bowles... David Harris has been one of the stables at linebacker but father time has come and past with his career... Along with Harris, Nick Mangold durability is his main issue nowadays and moving forward it would be best served if the team parts ways either trade/simple release or Nick decides it is time to retire... These two stable pieces would be welcomed additions to the coaching staff, but doubt there would be consideration on Bowles or the players part...
Brandon Marshall has his next gig lined up and it is time he makes that move... Like Marshall, Eric Decker who has been a disappointment to this point is being nice... Signed a big contract and hasn't delivered with Rex Ryan or Todd Bowles... Like Marshall, it looks like they would be better off this team... Maybe they still continue their careers elsewhere but for this team we need to develop not pay for past production on other teams...
The final player, has been under the radar with his fall from dependability is kicker Nick Folk... Hopefully the team realizes he is not as a sure thing as he used to be and moves on...
Speculations about trades, or attempt of trades will become a big distraction this off season on whom they are dealing and to what team... One name already on the block is defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson who since has kept his name out of the media and stepped up his play on the field... Looking at the roster at a glance there are some other players that could be dealt... We will have to wait n see on this front...
If one had to guess why Todd Bowles is committing himself to Ryan Fitzpatrick, it's not out of sheer stupidity but the willingness to win... As an organization this team has been a loser for years and not to play the players that give the team the best chance to win is not who he is and I applaud him for that... This team is on the right path to future success but no where did it say it was going to be smooth sailing, yeah I know bumpy as all hell but the same saying is true: "Rome wasn't built in a day"...
I believe through the draft either draft selections or free agent prospects we will continue to improve the talent throughout this roster... Expect some players that were let go from the ninety man last year to make a return this off season and compete for a roster spot next year... Players like center Kyle Friend, kicker Ross Martin, linebacker Taiwan Jones will be at the fore front... Expect players like Freddie Bishop, Doug Middleton, Bryson Keeton, Brandon Bryant, Victor Ochi, Craig Watts and Ronald Martin be real considerations to make the active 53...
The turnover from year one to year two seemed to hurt the overall stock of this team's ability to be successful... Have to think the hard times are now behind us as we continue to build through the draft and possibly a couple of key signings in free agency... Any promising young talent who are entering this off season as restricted free agents could be targeted especially if there is no pick compensation back to the original team who is tendering that player(s)... There are a few of names to watch out for: RB Isaiah Crowell, Browns - WR Josh Gordon, Browns -- FS Adrian Phillips, Chargers ...
As for me I look at some players that were considered long shots to be anything but backups and special team players that have carved out a role that is important for the growth of the overall team's destination of being competitive... Now will they continue to develop with us or will they be let go to continue their success with another organization... Time will tell but these eight players have proven they belong at this level when no one thought they could be stable forces on any roster: RG Brian Winters, OC Wesley Johnson, LT Ben Ijalana, CB Marcus Williams, SS Rontez Miles, LB Mike Catapano, LS Tanner Purdum, LB Julian Stanford...
