I suppose that's possible Ham and I like the Lynch pick, but I'd be disappointed if the Jets didn't get an OT in the first 2 rounds. That move is too big to deny. If we can get a day one starter at RT, that would allow Mac to cut Giacomini and save about 5 million under the cap. That's big for a team as cash strapped as the Jets. It's even worse than first thought also. Reports are indicating Mo won't be traded tonight or at all during the draft. That means now the Jets are going to have to pay Mo 15.7 million when really I think everyone anticipated that escaping from the ledger.

fwiw, from cimini on lynch (and QBs). i'd much rather get cook or hackenberg in the 2nd than risk a 1st on lynch.

Finally, it's draft day, the NFL's version of Christmas morning.

The New York Jets, picking 20th, probably won't be on the clock until 10 p.m. ET or so, which means another 15 hours of rumors and speculation. Here's what I'm hearing:

1. Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch is the player most commonly linked to the Jets in mock drafts (including by me in the televised NFL Nation mock draft on Tuesday night), but I no longer believe that will happen. I received late information on Lynch, and the sense I get is the organization has concerns about his maturity and ability to adjust to a pro-style offense. There's a lot of smoke leading up to the draft, and sometimes it takes a while to see through it.

2. If the Jets use one of their six picks on a quarterback, it could be Penn State's Christian Hackenberg. Yeah, I know, he was mediocre at best over the last two seasons, but I hear the Jets like him. I spoke to officials from two other teams and they, too, made positive comments about him. He'd be an absolute reach at 20, but there's a good chance he'll go in the second round. By the Jets? We'll see.

Thanks Hobson

Either its true or they love Paxton and are trying to throw people off the scent with the usual draft subterfuge.

We won't know until tonight, if Paxton is still on the board at 20, but the suspense is killing me :)

I don't see Paxton happening at 20....big reach. There's very little evidence to suggest at this stage that he can be a no doubt about it good NFL QB. Too many variables and concerns to gamble at pick 20. Find another kid later on and racetrack him vs Petty. Keep doing this each year until you get one that fits. Could they trade back and take him? not sure the kid is 1st rd material period.

I hope Lynch is taken before we pick, increasing the chances of a player falling to us that we need. If Decker is there, that's the pick

Note: Its being widely reported that Myles Jack has a degenerative knee condition, Jack has essentially confirmed it, so I had to edit him out of RD 1 and that caused a domino effect of edits.

I love Shaq Lawson pick for the Raiders. I wouldn't rule out Myles Jack to the Raiders either( last team he worked out for- as they put him through an extensive workout and checked the knee after it.

Thanks for the update, Bronx, I just removed him as well.

The enlarged aorta can be caused by many things. Even the flu can do that at times. Not sure it is that big a deal.

I hate when this garbage gets floated right before the draft by some team looking to make a player fall. If they are caught, they should lose a first rounder for doing so.

I'm hoping Decker falls. If he is there at 20, I think thats a better play than Lynch who seems very risky

ragland had looked like a serious possibility for us - need some doctors to tell us how bad an enlarged aorta is

someone mentioned Hackenberg - I am willling to discount his SO and JR seasons. He was great as a FR. Once you show a skill, you have it - even if coaching and scheme take you away from it. in my view, if he is there in the 3rd round must take him. In second it is tougher.
