I would love to reiterate that Bowles inherited a 4-12 team and took them to 10-6, while Rex inherited a 9-7 team and took them to 9-7. But too often here, I have been told record is irrelevant, for whatever reason.
Look, Bowles deserves to be bashed for the awful start to this year. I have no problem with that. But I do have a problem with those who praise Rex's greatness and bash Bowles. It ignores the evidence.
when TB came here it was widely expected the Jets to be a 4-6 win team the first year and we went 10-6 not because he was a mastermind because of other feats like teams we played were less talented then we were... but last season was a failure to the point when we needed to win we couldn't against those better than average teams...
those keys games last year basically were the first six weeks this year all clumped together, showed who certain players are...
any time a new head coach comes in with his coaching staff especially this is his first stint as head coach have to give them at least 3 years before we can say if he is the right fit or not...
Kacy Rodgers a 4-3 d line coach came in to be the D coordinator and has continued the great d line play against the run... but because we have to play off man coverage there is no pass rush because teams are throwing short... quick releases void our pass rush by the d line and linebackers... but Monday against the Cards when our corners played aggressive jamming at the los our d line and linebackers were more successful albeit a successful failure because we abandoned our responsibilities against the run and got torched by the run...
this defense is in need of speed at the defensive back roles, but we dont have that at the moment but communication needs to improve and we should be able to compensate while playing the type of defense that TB wants to run... with the schedule becoming more easier, the team should improve and build that continuity down the stretch...
the season is far from lost, but it isn't the best of spots to be in...
