Last year is already starting to look like a fluke, the proverbial career year, but Fitz is making 12 million dollars and the same veterans who lobbied for the front office to resign him (Marshall, Decker, Mangold et al.) might be unhappy if they believe management pulled the plug too soon, they might view it as a sign of surrender, however ridiculous that may be, but I suspect Fitz is going to get a long leash.

The question is, HOW LONG or does he get things going enough to keep the job all year?

Depends on how he looks in the foreseeable future. It's idiotic to even consider benching him right now, immediately after a career game against Buffalo. But if this keeps up however, it will be a very interesting question in future weeks......

One more game like this. I pick 6 or less because its guaranteed he will have another game like this.

For me it would be next week, definitely Week 6 or Sooner, but I don't believe Bowles will have enough common sense to pull the plug that quickly, I think he'll wait until the season is completely lost, so I'm going with Week 10 or Sooner. It might even be after the Week 11 Bye, but I'll split the difference and say Week 10 or Sooner.

What say you?

Being realistic I voted week 10 or sooner but I'm hoping for next week. If you ask some Jets fans, maybe even most, they'll say he should keep the job forever. BECAUSE HE'S OUR SAVIOR, LOL!!!

Note: Ok-Ok, I'm being an ass here but I'm guessing they'll say he should keep it for another ten years atleast.

You and I have had the same battles with some fans about Fitz.

Bowles proved today that I was wise to say Week 10 or Sooner, and not Week 6 or Sooner as I was tempted to do.

If Bowles would not pull Fitz from this game after he threw more interceptions than there is sand on all of the earths beaches combined, then there's no way in hell he is making a switch at QB before Week 7, in fact, after seeing what I saw today, if I could vote again I would say Fitz keeps the job all year.

Hilarious how quickly Jets fans jump ship on a QB. Just last week Fitz was a badass. Now he's the stinking pile of garbage outside. Quick trigger Jets fans. I've got news for you: he's not getting benched anytime soon. One shit game this year isn't going to make Bowles pull the trigger yet.

Did you miss the home opener?

Granted, it wasn't THIS LEVEL of a debacle, but it was pretty awful.

Today was historically bad, but week one, by any normal standards, was pretty bad too.

nxt week if Fitz Forcin it to DeckMarsh then by halftime the backup will be inserted or better be...

this was arguably the most pathetic performance in Jets history... we were suckered into paying this guy, lmao...

still believe this team has potential figuring our defense only gave up 10 pts, then the rook with the return fumble for a score but this loss is all on Fitz and his performance or lack thereof...

Listen, I am not condoning anything Fitz did today. This was by far and away his worst game as a pro and it's much more in line with the kind of QB he's always been, but there's blame that goes elsewhere also.

The WR's execution today was virtually nonexistent. The Chefs covered every WR like a glove today, and given all of the talent in our WR core, today was simply unacceptable. EVERY time a football was in the air, there was a defender right in stride with the intended WR. Brandon Marshall? Eric Decker? Quincy Enunwa? I do not have a good word for any one of them......

It depends on our record

Agree but with this caveat. If he starts a downward spiral (say three ints per game over the next few weeks then I say before week 10, even though that is what I voted for.

I'm going to say he holds it the entire season. Fitz will play well enough to keep the coaching staff and veterans loyal and stink it up enough to keep driving the fanbase insane. He'll bounce back next week (win or lose), but we all know he isn't a franchise QB and never will be.

He is here to hold the reins until someone else can take them and run with it. They are all in with him this season and even though games like today really punctuate who/what he really is, unfortunately he is still the best option on our current roster.

I could not agree with you more. Bowles will not make the change (unless by some miracle he is forced to from above) until the season is beyond hopeless, if then. I am still in catatonic shock after I saw him "coach" (and I am using that word loosely) the last game of last season in Buffalo when he stuck with Ridley throughout the whole game and let Ivory watch from the bench as the season went down the tubes. After Ivory ripped off a 59 yard run at the beginning of the second quarter I thought at least at that point Bowles would go back to Ivory. But I learned that game that there is no limit to Bowles' stubbornness and lack of adjustments as he stuck with Ridley and let Sammy Watkins run wild and continued to have Fitzpatrick throw a ton in adverse weather conditions. Nothing Bowles has done as a head coach gives me any confidence that he can adjust to anything, even if his coat is on fire. He will just let it burn.

My fear going into this season was that the Jets were woefully weak in the two most important positions on a football team: head coach and quarterback. Nothing I have seen has led me to believe I am wrong. What is even more depressing is that MacCagnan thought it would be a good idea to burn $12 million against this year's and next year's cap for Fitzpatrick. Therefore, I am down on the two top decision makers in this organization and they will be here for a few more years. I think Fitz remains the QB for the whole season even if the team is 1 and 7. I hope I am wrong but then again I hoped I was wrong during the Bills game last season and that I would see some adjustments. I never did.
