I don't agree with Mac's first two moves

I like Marshalls size and experience. I'd take his realistic production and team impact, for a5th round pick any day. We can still draft cooper and release marshall next year if everything pans out. Also, we just saved 3 million with marshall over Harvin, and have a better receiver.
Now we have an offense that geno or a rookie can come in and use without making excuses.
I look at the offense as a race car, and the qb is the driver. You might have a mediocre driver now, but he has a car that can win. And we can always look for a better driver.

Harris was a necessary evil, getting in a bidding war would have been bad, losing him would have been worse.
Mac is trying to improve what we have not create holes. Harris and Davis give us at least 3 strong years teamed with our d line, if not more. Now, addressing the secondary will leave us with a defense you can shake a stick at.

I understand the difference of opinion on Harris. He got a lot of dough, and he's a steady but hardly spectacular player.

I don't see the argument that Marshall was a bad trade, though. The upside to this deal is HUGE. Too big to pass up, considering all we gave up was a 5th. If Marshall doesn't lose his mind and act like an idiot, he'll be a great addition.

Listen there is no debating getting Brandon Marshall for a 5th round pick at his salary IS NOT A GOOD DEAL..regardless who plays QB...the move made the team better...Im not worried about his attitude or whatever..he is a top ten NFL WR..debating it is very silly the position was put in front of their face to better their team and they did...and there are not too many QB options out there..so WHOEVER is playing QB will benefit from him..so will Decker, AMaro and a RB out of backfield..

Harris..maybe the money is a bit higher..but what the hell..they HAVE to spend a certain amount and he has been a good soldier a leader...and yes he gets burned in coverage, but hopefully they don't put him in that position.. and it shows other guys on team the Jets loyalty so maybe..just maybe you can debate this move a little....Im sorry but I think the thread is off base...I know its a personal opinion like everyone..but there is not too much to argue about with these two moves....

Noone believes that but he is steady..a good guy actually had 5 1/2 sacks last year..did they over pay a bit..probably..but ..they have to put some money out there so I would rather overpay a good soldier for us for the past 8 years..tHAN SOME OTHER CLOWN

I couldn't care less that he was a good soldier. He can't play anymore. What, you want to keep every guy that played hard in spite of their performance level? That's your message. When you mix emotions into business as you are doing here, you get bad results.

As for signing some other clown, I never suggested that either. I actually named some better alternatives. That's a poor response to my post. Totally misrepresented. Just saying.

I disagree that he can't play, I believe that's an exaggeration. Our linebackers were hung out to dry under idzik, from a lack of secondary. If mac gets us a solid cb starter and a decent young safety, or linebackers will look different.

How could you not like these moves, especially the Marshall one. The Harris re-signing I see where your coming from but Marshall, come on now! Marshall is still a top ten WR in this league. With a decent QB he will catch 80 ball at least, for 1000 yards and 10 TDs. He did this with Cutler for 5 years straight of over 100 catches. These are HOFer numbers we are talking about here and Cutler is very erratic. NO Cutler isn't as bad as Geno but with Marshall and Decker and the rest of what we have now, even Geno can improve.

With this move, Jets hold all the cards in trading the #6 spot with the Eagles or any team period. If they decide to draft Mariota or even crazier to stick with Geno, they now have a veteran receiver core that can help them develop. It's not like Marshall is 35 years old here, he is 30 and still has 3-4 years at least of all-pro work in him if he can stay healthy. Harris is a stable LB that I guess the Jets feel he still can contribute for two more years at least and they didn't want the Bills to get him. The Jets can still draft players and go young in FA. Plus, the Phila possible trade will give the Jets Foles and multiple draft picks to draft even more younger players. How can this not be a good thing. You gotta love this Jets faithful. J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!!!

Most teams draft to fill needs NOW! The Jets draft to fill the roster hoping that we can develop a player in 3 - 5 years.

Devito? Snacks? Leger? Allen?

It's easy to "develop your bench" when TB is behind center. I actually think the Jets have gotten decent production from players it wasn't expected from...

Wow!! Devito, Snacks, Leger, Allen!! That's your answer to the Jets developing players?? You've got to be kidding me!! Allen sucks, Devito was a bit above average and Snacks was a steal. We sure developed an awesome OL, QB, RB, WR, TE, LB's & secondary from developing our own players!! That's why we are picking 6th and have not sniffed a Superbowl in 46 yrs. By the way, your coaches develop players not your QB. My point being the good teams (GOOD TEAMS) develop players to move into starting positions when a player gets hurt or old while playing at a strong level. You think we would have an ILB, OLB, CB, OL to play at an elite level. Snacks is the only one. As much as you want to disagree our drafting in Rds 2-7 suck. Rd 1 is 50-50. (Ghost,Sanchez,Wilson,) are no bargains. Do we actually have 5 players picked in Rds 2-7 that are solid starters? I mean good players, not "Oh well, there okay"

I like the Brandon Marshall move, for a 5 that was a steal. Like cop I just hope that doesn't preclude us from draft Cooper or White if we stay put at 6 and thats the best player on the board. If that happens this could come back to haunt us, but in a vacuum this trade was a heist and we now have a legit and elite BIG #1 WR, and Decker can now be a terrific #2 as he was in Denver.

As for Harris, I thought we overpaid the last time we re-signed him and he was in his prime, this time I think we ridiculously overpaid for a player who seems to be slipping. I don't like that move at all, but he can still play so I won't go crazy about it.

Harris should've hit open market...let him test waters while Jets looked at younger options...he could've been resigned if other FA options failed...a handshake type of deal where he goes to Buffalo gets a number and we walk or talk

Love Marshall...as long as we still can trade or get the WR for the future....even at 20, hopefully

Harris would have been off the market quick. He's a team guy, slightly over paid, but an improved secondary will make him look like a pro bowler.
Honestly there's only 2 or 3 linebackers in fa even worth talking to.

I didn't see many alternatives, either. At least, guys who were significantly better than Harris. I know some fans are hung up on the money part, but does it really impact our big picture that much? We've got a ton of money to spend. The Jets aren't anywhere near done, IMO.

Agreed. We just need to change how we use him.. I do not want to see him out in coverage, that's his downfall.

maybe harris isn't a every down back but he still cn play when he is on the field i think alot of the reason he seemed slow was because he was tired from the offense going three and out every time, but if you are able to get him some rest and rotate your guys I still think he can play, and more importantly you keep a veteran in the lockeroom and someone considered a true vet...........imagine how pissed dbrick and mangold would have been if they let him go.

1) If Marshall does not IMPLODE he's a steal for a 5th round pick. The problem I have is that I wanted Amari Cooper or Kevin White @ 6, but now with Marshall, I can't see them going WR anymore.
Marshall does not preclude drafting a WR.
Build for today AND for tomorrow is always a sounder policy than for today ONLY.

Agreed. But not before the 3rd round, IMO. Some here are claiming we still use our #6 pick on a WR. I don't see that happening.

From what I have seen from Bowles and his Big Nickel D... Harris will be used for run stopping... Run blitzing/pass blitzing... and rarely a drop into an under zone look.... He will not be in Coverage Man to man ever!!!
